In the P&S tradition: grabbed our Panasonic FX3 before going to the Matthaus (St Matthew) Passion in the Old Church in Delft and made this shot quickly just before entering.

Glad to have shot raw

This young bald eagle just left his perch, and I was able to ketch a few shots of it in flight. The Silhouettes of it on the pole are nice, but this is one of the best flight shots. This is an excellent reason to be shooting raw. I was able to bring out the detail on the underside of the eagle. There was a little bit of fringe around the head that was an odd color. Not sure how to correct that.

F 5.3 1/1250 sec. ISO 100
55-200 mm at 165mm equivalent to 247mm on 35mm film

Over there------->
Wow, it seems MR photograph quality is improving each month. We got the master of patience, doylem who takes amazing landscapes and sceneries, we got sonor who is making a swan look cool :cool:, Phrasikleia with her amazing skills with macro photography, pdxflint who shows that its not all about the camera but more about the person behind the camera ;) and finally we got nuwomb who might not produce amazing HDR all the time, but his consistency with the art of HDR and some of his masterpieces is just amazing.

Glad to have you guys (and gals) here and for those name not mentioned here, don't worry this is not a comparison or anything, it just names of people who I remembered, so post here often and I might remember you in the future ;)

Thanks, wheelhot. :) I'm glad you're enjoying the macro shots. Here's another one:

It's really spring here.

Reminds me of the Keukenhof gardens. What a gorgeous place....and mind you, this is a guy talking. One thing that was sad was seeing the tulip bulb harvest and the mounds of tulips heads in the fields:( Hmmmm, those tulips don't seem to be swaying in the ever present "breeze"? Well, maybe more like a wind tunnel when I was there in Apr/May. Loved it. Nice photo too. Cheers

Hello everyone.

Yesterday I was given a Nikon D40 as a gift completely out of the blue. I'm totally new to photography but I have been reading this forum for some time and enjoying everyone's work. Now I need to learn how to use the camera well and take decent images.

Anyway, here's my (poor) contribution.

My son's hoping to be the next Lewis Hamilton...or probably Jenson Button now

(when he's not planning to be the next Ronaldo or Rooney)
