More point 'n shoot... A95 - Sitka Spruce

Sitka Spruce

Went hiking up into the woods on the front 40 acres on our place to limber up the old Canon A95. I was definitely hampered by the lack of wide-angle with this little point 'n shoot, and some obvious chromatic aberation/fringing... but figured the shot would convey some of the typical specimens of Sitka spruce in our little piece of Pacific northwest rainforest (those that are still standing...) These trees were in big demand for the aircraft industry during WWI, and until aluminum replaced wood in airplanes.

I took my new lens out to the BMW Car Club autocross and have around 1100 images to sort through and rank. This one represents an attempt to be a little artistic. It also looks like I badly need a few 52mm ND filters (examine the EXIF data and the reasons will be apparent)

Wherever I hang my hat...
Brilliant light and sky as usual 'Professor'. May I ask where it is? Between MR and Google Maps, you can get quite a broad geography lesson following Photo of the Day.

Thank you. After so many days of winter gloom in UK, the light in early spring can be amazingly bright and penetrating. The shot is of Dalton Square in Lancaster...

More point 'n shoot...

Trapped ocean water after a high tide subsided at Taft beach, Taft (Lincoln City,) Oregon. More samples from the Panasonic Lumix LZ8 point 'n shoot. This little camera does have aperture-preferred, shutter-preferred and manual modes, along with all the usual digital wizardry scene modes (which I never use...:) ) It'll never replace my dSLR, but I can't complain too much - I only paid a C-note for it...

Ah, finally first post for the month, here is a shot recently taken from a Japanese artist art exhibition in iNTI Penang, here is the shot of the Batik artist. I added the yellowish/sepia cast cause the white background was too painful for the eyes :(

He must have a real nice life, doing things he like.
