It's a great shot. If I was going to be picky, I'd say the pic would benefit from a bit of 'breathing space' around the bird (so the feet and tail aren't on the very edge of the frame), and if you'd taken half a step to the left, the post wouldn't be coming out of the gull's head. Yes, I know. Picky...

Was this image edited? or straight from the camera? I love how the boater is sooo much brighter than the surroundings.
Pretty much a straight shot, I think. Maybe a slight bit of cropping. Been a few months since I did anything to it.
Wow! Absolutely superb photo! Definitely not a run-of-the-mill swan shot. The backlit wings are just perfect!

Hi Guys. Long time admirer of the photo threads on this forum.
Feeling brave tonight to add my 1st contribution.
Inspired by a recent Valdore shot I saw & just had to figure out how to do it.
Not sure if my technique is The Way, but It worked for me.

Took this today holding an old 50mm f1.8 reversed over the kit lens on my D40.

The sun was going down and the swan was friendly - hanging around at the edge of the lake right next to me - so I got myself in position and waited to see if it would do anything interesting...then fired of a quick burst when it stood up.

This is my favorite of the pictures I took. I had to stand on my tippy-toes to reach the tag.
Went out today for a quick photo tour of one of my favorite places on my Island and ended up filling my 4 Gb card
