‘Fluffy’

Yesterday I switched my Sony A9 camera settings after starting to watch a Mark Smith video on how to setup the A9 for wildlife. I had used Mark Galer's setup guideline on setting up the camera for action (Wildlife). I have nothing against Mark Galer and it is a nice setup guide, but when it comes to wildlife photography Mark Smith is the Guru of that genre of photography. I swear Mark could take almost any camera and still take fantastic shots with that camera. If I can become even half as good as him that would make me extremely happy. Here is one picture with the new settings and I have to say so far so good.

Did you glue it in place? Ours never stop moving for a second!
Haha, yes, this was one of the first times one sat still. What’s funny is he would fly away for a few seconds and then come right back. Over and over. Once I figured that out, I just kept my focus on the post, and I ended up with a few shots of just the post. Some insects lead an exhausting lifestyle!

This guy had paid a visit to the deck back a month or so ago, and now he's discovered that there are goodies to be had so he returned yesterday after a reconnoitering stop on Tuesday. I was able to grab the RX10 and get a headshot through the screen door:

My favourite bird! We have a breeding pair that come back to one of our pine trees each Spring and they have just started fixing up the nest for this season recently!

My favorite bird is -- no surprise -- the Great Blue Heron (GBH) -- and I am so tickled every time I see Alfred and get a chance to photograph him. Herons and egrets fascinate me. This guy, an American Crow, is fairly common around this area, and can be raucous and noisy at times. He's bigger than the little sparrows and scare them. If one of the squirrels were here at the time he arrived, I'm sure they'd quickly scamper off, too!

Blue Herons are the dutch trash pandas. Terrorizing people, being a nuisance. I remember them being quite rare when I was younger. Storks were even more rare. But even they are starting to return in large quantities. It's not uncommon to see 10 of them hunting on a field or sitting on streetlanterns along the motorway.
