A wee little place in a country town called Caltowie, which until last night I had no idea of its purpose. I was quite gob-smacked at the ostentatious nature of it however! After someone on a local facebook ruins group piped up, I now know it to be the sole remaining building from what was a very lucrative and industrious flour roller mills. This was the office space, very modestly sized being about 3x2.5m in size; but not so meek in stature! 😍

Where do you live (generally) that you see so many monarchs?
I live in the Kansas City area. Edge of the Great Plains, so we get a good deal of migratory everything. You could say we were “flyover country“ long before humans invented airplanes and thought themselves cleaver to coin the term! It also helps to be near a field and a large community garden with lots of flowers.

First monarch we’ve seen. He’s a feisty little guy and doesn’t care for the tiger swallowtails one bit.

Toketee Falls in Oregon back in 2019. It was drizzling quite a bit that time so I wasn't able to go down to capture the falls on the ground. I will definitely come back to this place at some point in time to get a frontal ground view of this marvelous waterfall

I used a 6-stop ND for this one from what I remember

- seems I couldn't attached the image properly - keep getting a message about file size being too large - even when shrunk down to 400kb. Does anyone know the file size limit?
Have you tried resizing it to 1024 pixels (long side)?

Looking at old files had downloaded from camera but did nothing with as still in the download folder. This one (or next 3) from 2017. Would have processed immediately if had met my goal - returning to nest with food - but never occurred so files just sat on computer.

While rummaging around in a drawer looking for something I ran across a cherished treasure, a ring that my mother used to wear all of the time, one that each time I see it I immediately associate with her. It was silver, created from coins, so was rather unique. The top surface became worn away through the years, developing a nice patina as she wore it daily. It's too large for my fingers, so I don't wear it myself but I do love having it as a particularly meaningful memory of her. Anyway, just for the heck of it I decided to get out the camera and the macro lens and play around with the ring to see what would happen:
