If you'd waited just a couple of seconds more, the girl would have a head... :)

I know - how lame! I only noticed when I got back (from Japan) that she was there. I do have one other photo that I took around the same time, so I should check that :)

Hanover, NH ... for now
I've never posted any pictures here before, but I thought I would give it a shot. I took this shot with my canon SD550 P&S out of our suburban window on the way to the mountain in the morning for ski training at 7am in Colorado. With this one I guess photo taking tactics and techniques go out the window (pun not necessarily intended).

I'm not qualifying these good or bad but I wanted to let my camera out of the box. :)

I'm slowly seeing more portrait work here. Good to see something different! I'll post a wide portrait shot i did for my friends and their two dogs. Eh.. obviously you can't see one of the dog's face....but oh well. This was a 'for fun' shot i wanted to do because i thought the small hill and the trees made a great natural frame. Plus we tried for a decent amount of times to get the dogs to run towards the middle *and* look at me. pretty tough!

All are taken with a Canon 1d mkIII, Canon 16-35 L USM II.
Each is comprised of up to 7 shots, taken handheld on high-speed drive, and bracketed +/- 3.0 stops.

I love this first photo of yours. Care to elucidate the details involved with how to do multiple exposures handheld? I need to figure this out.

I've had mixed results with handheld multiple exposures.

My first attempts at HDR

I have been inspired by some of the HDR photos that I have seen and these are some of my first attempts taken over the last few days. They were shot with a Nikon D-100 with either 18-55mm or 24-120, ISO200, Raw,AEB +-2, Aperture priority. I used photomatix pro for merge and tone mapping.

This guy was bumming spare change on the corner, so I paid him a small donation as a trade for letting me take his photo. Part of a photo essay/article about inner NW Portland. Scanned from workprint.

Something missing in this thread

Where has Freebooter gotten off to? The bug macros were the highlight of the old thread for the longest time and the new IR stuff was looking good, but nothing now for a few weeks. Someone get over to Korea and see what's up.

with Hamburglar.
Anyone up for making a separate HDR monthly photo topic? It might help to keep tips, techniques, and questions (which can be tricky) in a separate topic.
Maybe even a brief overview from Valdore as the first post of each month answering FAQs that frequently pop up.

Thoughts?

Interesting idea, I'm up for it. Would we keep HDR's exclusively in that thread and out of this thread?

He's on vacation--traveling around mostly Southeast Asia I believe.
