Great photos Phrasikleia - I particularly like how you have both the road and the telephone cables drawing you 'through' the image from the foothills

I don't like taking photos featuring people I don't know; it always feels like I'm intruding in some way. However I got this one and rather like it.

Wherever I hang my hat...

Your pic's waaaaay too big for my monitor...

I don't like taking photos featuring people I don't know; it always feels like I'm intruding in some way.

It can seem quite threatening to point a camera at people, and using a telephoto lens only makes it worse (you feel like a sniper ).

But most people love being in pictures; they only want to know why you're taking them.

I give people my card and ask them to email me... so I can send the best of the pix I took (some do, some don't...). This seems especially important with families, kids, etc.

This isn't an HDR pic; it's a pic on which I used HDR. There's a difference... to me, at least... ;)

Phrasikleia thanks for your comment.

Doylem realy like your "hdr"pic, it's like a fairytale!

I find it a bit hard to take pictures now when it's winter, a lot of snow here, so blowouts, or what it's called.
Anything special to think about? low iso, "fast" exposure, what about the aperture if i want the unfocus area to be blurry, hope you understand that :)

A new B&W pic, is it to much free "air" around it? C&C?

ISO: 1600
Exposure: 8 sec
Aperture: f/11
Focal Length: 50mm

I like this picture. The snow is an unexpected element, so it holds my interest. It's also a good use of B&W. To answer your question, no, I don't think it has too much negative space; I think the composition works.

Another one from Glennville, California:

Jesus Christ, man! It's like you live in a fairy tale or something! I love the reality and beyond that your photos evoke, and this one is exemplary with a bit more of the "beyond" in it than what I'm used to seeing from you here.

Bravo!

Thats an older photo Doylem, I remember seeing it months ago...but I love it, I agree that it evokes a ferry tale like setting.

Taken today, Waimea Bay on the North Shore. I like the way you can see the wave face in profile.

And that's a great memory you've got... :)

It's the same location, for sure, just ten minutes walk from my lakeside shack, but not the same pic. Just for the interest :)rolleyes:) here's the new version... then the old (shot dec 20, last year)...

And thanks for your enthusiasm, Vixappire...

Fantastic work again guy's , looks like December has got off to a great start :)

I don't normally take "Landscape" shot's with the camera in "Portrait" orientation I always think its a landscape so it should be that way round, however this is one i took yesterday that I think works ok.

A photo from Cornwall last weekend. Even in the middle of winter Cornwall is one of the most beautiful counties in the country.

Some of the photos I took came out a bit 'flat'. I am thinking of getting a polarizing lens, I hear they give shots a bit of lift.
