ISO3200, 190mm, F/2.8. He was doing about 70-75km/h. I was standing just by the side of the track. I went there actually with the intention of asking lots of questions, taking a few photos too. Next morning, I got my racing license.

My bedside lamp.....that's how little I've been snapping lately due to lack of time....

Nonetheless, it's still a cool study of light and form!

Hope that Mrs MacRy is healing up well and that you're doing alright with all the extra things to do now.

That is amazing!

Thank you kristoffer4. That was a 13 sec. exposure using a 10 stop ND filter to smooth-out the small ripple on the water.

Thats a great shot. I have a Snowy Owl hanging around, I just picked up a 55-210mm, hoping to see him again soon:D.

Thanks jjk454ss. I had no luck in my pursuit of owls (Snowy and Great Grey) this weekend. Good luck with your Snowy - I hope to see a shot posted here. They are beautiful creatures.

Thanks. Mrs MacRy is still confined to bed for another week before she's allowed to do anything even remotely strenuous. On the plus side - I'm shifting some of my Xmas weight with all of the extra chores and dog walking :)

Mockingbird

I captured the following picture with an old combo --- D40 and 300 4.5 Ai manual focus lens; I'm always amazed that such an old lens can still render pretty sharp images:

I would make the eyes in focus rather than the mouth/nose.

At least you got your camera out. I've been dealing with a family crisis my self over the last week, so mine hasn't seen light of day.
Hope things get back to normal for both of you soon.

Absolutely agree with Apple fanboy. Considering the eyes are the window to the soul theory, the eyes should always be in focus. With people, pets or wildlife, I would say that most of the face should be in focus unless you want to draw the viewer's attention to the eyes only.

Light catchment in the eyes is always good too. It emphasizes the life in, and behind, the eyes. If the eyes are black and a bit dark you can even paint-in a bit of a dodge (lighten) to the eyes to make them really shine and sparkle.

The bokeh is good. Cute little guy/gal...part Shih Tzu?

Experimenting with macro photography on a dime store monk statue using a Sony NEX 5, a 1.4/50mm Takumar lens that's almost old enough to be my dad and a bellows unit.
