Cat pics are a dime a dozen. Having said that, couldn't resist posting this snapshot from today.

It's time for Friday food torture, isn't it?

Would you mind sending a care package my way? I'm in Toronto, I think a modestly sized package can be shipped reasonable inexpensively for 2 day delivery from BC :)

I once visited a macaroon shop in NYC and their 40+ flavours had me come back 5 times over the course of 3 days. Haven't found a shop of that level locally, unfortunately, and have been dreaming of it for a while.

So yea, PM me if you can hook me up with whoever made these. :D

Sad, but true, I was in a McD's Cafe the other day for some liquid refreshment and even they had them! 6 for $9.95 (takeaway) and a whole range of flavours to choose from.

Mind you, I'm in South Australia, where the McCafe was initially tested, so it may not be a worldwide thing yet...

They are cropping up here and there, but the quality and consistency are still lacking around here :(. Screw NYC, I should just go to Paris already!

Funny enough, yours are the first photos of lotus flowers that I have ever seen. I'm astonished at that fact, in this day and age to not have seen a thing like this! Makes me want to go find a real one :)

Beautiful pictures of Yosemite C&A!

When did they renovate Yosemite? When I was there, that national park didn't look nearly as beautiful as your images. ;)

Thanks very much filmbufs. It may have been the time of year. Don't know when you are there but I've heard the stories about the summer crowds...that would turn me off in a big way.

Closer to home themumu: Nadege Patisserie, 780 Queen St. West - right beside Trinity Bellwoods park.

A little pricey but, without doubt, the BEST pastries in T.O. especially the macaroons. :)

Been there. They are good but not enough weird flavours. :p

Barred Owl

Been out chasing owls lately with no success so I'm hoping for better luck today. This shot is from last year.

Yesterday morning, before leaving. It was cold and had not yet started snowing (again).

Taken with iPhone 5S back camera. Relatively mild PP in Aperture and Nik HDR Effects Pro 2.

Starlings

I love starlings. I was out chasing bald eagles today with my 500mm F4/P MF (old Nikkor). A few far off shots of eagles, but as you can imagine, more miss than hit with a MF lens (at least with me). On the way out of the refuge, came across a bunch of shrubs with a gazillion starlings. Grabbed this hand-held. While it will never win any contests, I like it. Sort of "artistic" starlings :).

A wool store that is now used as rental studio space for artists, but is eventually going to become housing, once the local council removes some toxic material nearby, leftover from an old fertiliser factory that has closed and not been demolished yet. The old fertiliser plant is huge and all made of asbestos, no one wants the job of removing it, or to pay for it!

This is a three frame capture, using my tilt-shift lens and shifting to the left and right in portrait orientation to fit the building in, just. I couldn't go back any further because of the trees to my sides intrusion. I'll revisit this in Winter when the leaves are all gone and I can see the whole building again.
