Selfie at Dead Horse Point, Utah by Drew Unalkat, on Flickr

I will say this, Utah was one of the most consistently scenic states I travelled through on my 6 week road trip around western America (California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana). I do find it strange that, for people here in Britain, it really does not feature more in travel itineraries. It's a damn shame, as the scale and 'epicness' of this place is bloody impressive!

Shhhh. Let's just keep this little secret. I bet you had DHP all to yourselves, didn't you? So beautiful and nary a giant tour bus!

Another one from yesterday morning. Mrs MacRy has been in hospital having back surgery so I've spent all of my waking hours doing chores and visiting her in hospital therefore no time for photography :( Bought her home today so I may have a bit more free time....just need the crappy British weather to co-operate a bit more now.

A lotus flower detail taken at the local botanic gardens today.

I think this is one of your best Alex. Great colour and composition that would look great hanging on a wall.

All my best wishes to Mrs MacRy for a speedy and full recovery.

Cheers,

Trying something a bit different here - while most people just take pictures of the famous entrance gate on the right, I'm trying to find a way to capture the old Victorian industrial environment it sits in:

I have been a fan of your Dublin shots for some time. I LOVE photographs like this because they help to remind and inspire me to view things differently. Sometimes taking a photograph from a different vantage point can make the image even more powerful or invoke an entirely different emotion/story. It's not always easy to find a new or better angle while you're on vacation but it can be worthwhile when you do.

Best Wishes

I normally shoot in color, but had some bad weather lately...it seems to look better in black and white.

I hope Mrs Macry heals up quickly and easily. Getting off some frames of her should be easier now that she can't slap or run! ;)

Thanks, Peter. I still prefer it out larger, this was a really heavy crop, I'll post it in full later today. The lad and I are heading back there in the next few days, before the flowers all drop! I'll take the macro lens and get some better details.

Stunning capture. If this had been one of mine I wouldn't be asking for advice on my top five! https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1698138/ I'd just submit this 5 times.

Thanks, AF. It's a hard task narrowing down to just 5 captures. I'd be a mess trying to do it!

Playing in the snow with our 2 year old border collie Spice. She and our other 2 dogs are outdoors all the time. We've had unusually cold weather (7F this morning), but they do fine and actually seem to like it. Spice and Roxy were wrestling and play-fighting on the deck this morning at 7AM.

Can't have too much frisbee time !

Lol. She's not looking at her best bless her and I fear my my safety when she becomes more mobile if I start snapping away now.....having said that I did take so e if her in the hospital ;)

The same Lotus flower as yesterday, just the full picture this time.

Going against the flow I think I actually prefer this to the tighter crop.

Mine for today was a rare RAW shot that I had a go at converting.
