Not sure you should be driving and taking photo's at the same time!!:) especially in the wet!

You're the 2nd person to mention this - no, I was not driving, and took the photo leaning over from the middle of the back seat.

Cheers :)

I heard you were driving, posting on MR and using a manual lens!
I saw a women driving the other day and putting on her makeup at the same time when I was driving to work.
I was so shocked I dropped my razor into my cornflakes! :D

Another pic of the kiddo. When he is done examining something, he often holds it aloft and shouts "B'DAAH" with much authority. In context it seems to mean something like "Behold, I have examined this and offer it up to you as something that is now known/approved by me". Interestingly there is a verb in classical Greek, bdeo, which means to "break wind." Probably not related, but I sometimes wonder...

I was in North London last week and saw a guy driving along whilst brushing his teeth. Middle of the day.... just brushing his teeth.

Part of New Tavern Fort, originally built 18th century and extended in the 19th, at Gravesend...

Like the lighting and the contrast on this one but maybe a wee shuffle to the right to reduce the amount of space taken by the wall and get a slightly less acute angle on the repeating pattern of the front wall to get more detail on it? Nice though. I like the tonality.

My first photograph of 2016, bubbles frozen in the surface of a high alpine lake in the Julian Alps. The story of this photo is in the caption of the post on my Facebook page. (Click the photo to enlarge it...I posted a large size because it has lots of details!)

By the way, for those of you who asked for details about the landscape photography conference that I mentioned (I'm one of the five speakers at it): the official announcement is now out. You can download the PDF brochure ("programme") here: LINK. (The PDF link is about halfway down the page.) I hope to see some of you there!

I see what you mean, but if you knew how hard it was raining at the time (I was on my way back to the car from the fountain shot above) you would understand. This was just a quick shot that turned out better than expected - I will be returning to the scene to see what else I can find.

Cheers :)

I have a picture here from a friend which I love. He took time to explain how he stood for hours in the cold icy wind and rain waiting for the moment to press the shutter... frozen to the bone, bored, p*ssed off... now every time I look at it I feel bad for him. Please don't spoil the magic on yours :)

They sell gimbals for monopods but I couldn't see how that would work. I've never really got ton on with my monopod. It's generally either hand held or my three way tripod.

I don't get the gimbal on monopod idea either. A monopod itself can be moved quite freely. The advantage of a gimbal on a tripod is that you can have everything ready to go, camera settings in place, lens pointed in the right direction and then relax. I've spent many hours in the cold icy wind and rain this way waiting for the moment to press the shutter.

See above Ken and don't feel bad for him if he got the shot...it makes a successful capture that much sweeter.
