Tufted Titmouse

D4S_1064-XL.jpg

Talking about standing around for hours for a shot... I drove 1.5 hrs each way on two separate days to get the shots of the Tufted Titmouse birds (is that Titmouses or Titmice  ). I stood around for hours each day in the very cold and damp weather - no rain though. Have to say I enjoyed every moment. Going with a couple buddies who are just as crazy helps.

Three hours round trip plus waiting time - away from DiY and the kids? Sign me up!

It was worth it. Lovely shot.

How much extra time for it to sit on the branch with colour-coordinated berries? :)

Thanks ken. The time behind the camera, even waiting for something to happen, can be a great mental health break for me. Amazing how stress just melts away at times like that.

Actually not long at all for that shot Ish. I think that bird is a colour conscious diva.

First time visit to Banff's Cave and Basin historical site, the birthplace of Canada's National Parks system. Absolutely unprepared for taking pictures of this place, didn't bring my 14mm or a tripod, so poor me will have to return and do it again. FML.

24mm, 800 ISO, f/2.8, 1/2 sec ...

Oh dear, poor you! :) Lovely picture gaswerks. Of course you have to go back with your wide angle, but there's something to be said for selecting a detail from the landscape and making a picture of it. When I lived in Iceland for 15 months many years ago all I had was an SLR and 50mm lens. Didn't think anything of it at the time as it was all I had, but of course, if I was going back now I'd have something wider as well.

I love this beach log, the channels continually change around it depending on tide, season and weather…D300, Nikon 17-55/2.8, ISO200, 1/90th F8, 17mm, heavy saturation may not be to all tastes but comments welcome...

You dont post nearly enough images for us to enjoy... Would like to see more of your work even if it is half as good as the work on your site!

That's very kind of you kenoh and thank you for the comment re the site. :) I'm not what you'd call a prolific photographer, even though I always have my camera with me, but I promise to try and be a bit more active in this thread. Every time I post something after a gap I'm struck again by what a great group of people we have here :)
