Yes my immediate issue is the shops in Schiphol.... last night the flight delay cost me a new suitcase! me with time to kick my heels is not a good thing... Luckily, I think I am going to be spending most time in Amstelveen and Alphen den Rijn (I know I mangled the spelling on that one sorry)....

Love the lens flare in this one hope you do too.

Spelling is OK.
Amstelveen? Startbaan? Visited it many moons ago when I worked for EDS...
I like the flare. Looks intentional and done in post. Nice shot.

For those of you wondering about yesterday's macro image. Thanks to @Alexander.Of.Oz for the inspiration to shoot this. My biggest issue was getting the white of the background to blend with the white of the table; I used two different items, and they weren't the same and left a "seam" but I didn't want to just fill the whole thing white because I wanted to preserve the shadows. I really need a lightbox I guess for something like this. I did not pull out my seamless because I didn't want to worry about the age of it and it being too yellow. This was a great exercise. :) I've never done any actual product type of image before.

Comedians. No no M10s... just been crazy mad busy at work. Got back from Amsterdam late last night and well yeah... My life outside the forum has been getting in the way...
You have a life outside the forum? You're dead to me!

You're both right! There are loads of mallows and Lavatera is one genus in a large group. It looks like a Lavatera to me. (Some of them have been reclassified as Malva but I don't know which ones)

Hope you're all in one piece after the winds last night!
I am. Not sure about the trees and bushes!
Now come on post another winner!

Queen Street bridge over the Don River in snow, Toronto

D85_5773-Edit-Edit-XL.jpg

The bridge was built in 1911 and is considered "public art" in Toronto. The phrase "This river I step in is not the river I stand in" is taken from the philosophy of Heraclitus. I really have no idea what it means.

Toronto public transit electric street cars (others call them trams or trolleys) are often photographed in snow because of the bright contrasting colours.

Thats an amazing shot, i love the way the bus stands out in red against the rest of the cold, dull background. Good one, well done and the quote is very philosophical, thanks for letting us know where it came from. By the way it means 'change is constant...' bit of lie really considering its been there, unchanged since 1911 !!

One more...

Liking this one too, not so much the colours this time but the story it tells. I bet that poor so and so really didnt want to get off, i think i would have gone onto the terminus rather than get off in that weather.

A couple of hundred metres further down the beach from the last one (just after sunset) and the light has become very purple now, it's not a colour/tint problem, you'll notice the white T-shirts are actually white. I do love capturing those sandbags down there from every angle.

You did wonderfully well here, Molly! You have presented the sculpture perfectly and this looks like it could have been accomplished by a professional product photographer! You managed to get the form shown off beautifully with those light reflections along its sections, well done for enduring and overcoming your background mismatch too! Sorry for overusing the exclamation marks! :D !

In all honesty, a Lightbox would not have allowed the highlights very easily, it creates a huge soft non-directional light.

Thank you both. Those are very kind comments indeed.

@keyrex thanks for the philosophical interpretation. It now makes sense. I like it and will think of that every time I see the bridge.

I'm now waiting for another snowfall - I'm probably one of a very few who hopes for snow in this city. :)

Nice. Looks like you got it worse than us! It was just a mild frost here.

Yikes! There was me feeling hard done by scraping about a micron of frost off of my car windscreen this morning :)

Don't be a bunch of weenies ... this guy went fishing this morning ......

Only thing more stupid than fishing is ice fishing!

All I can see is the distinct possibility of sliding downhill on snow and ice in a car with stone/brick walls close by on both sides into the street that is definitely blind for you and the cross-traffic. That's all I see.

He he he you would see this slide past on the right as you skim down the main road next to it in your BMW shaped toboggan....

Still at the beach, from the other night. I nearly got skittled by a very quiet electric vehicle as I stepped out onto the road to get a wider view of a scene I was interested in. When I turned around to see who was honking and why, I saw this amazing sky beyond the houses, well that, and the fact that I'm quite taken by this lurid collection of pots in this front yard, but I have no idea why there's a Pouwhenua in amongst them!
