Eastern Boulder, CO from Table Mesa looking back over the Plains. When I first drove to Colorado to finish university in the late 80s, the image I had in my head was "Colorado = Mountains". When you cross the border from Kansas, it takes hours before you see any mountains. Lots of Great Plains here too. And the mountains rise very suddenly. Coming from the east coast as I did, the mountains formations I was used to were more "gradual" in nature and not sheer rocks out of relatively flat grasslands. This is looking from where it becomes sheer and back out to the miles and miles of Plains.

The female Belted Kingfisher made her appearance again on the pier! Can't believe I was this lucky to have seen and photographed her twice within a week! Grabbed the "bridge"/"superzoom" camera and began firing away. When it was clear she was going to stick around for a while I went back in the house and got out the A7R IV and 100-400mm lens with the 1.4x TC on and did some more shooting. She obligingly moved from the chain she'd been standing on to posing for me on the white-capped post:

That’s lovely. It’s nice when they oblige!

I was really tickled! Almost seemed as though she realized that I'd gotten out the big guns especially for her..... LOL! I liked that this time we can see her eye along with that big white spot, and get a decent look at the rest of her, too. After a while she took off, diving in-and-out of the water to try and get something to eat, but she moved waaaay too quickly for me! Maybe if I'd had the Sony A9 II...... :D

Birds diving into water to catch a fish is a challenge.

It’s a good while since I’ve been up them. Currently we aren’t supposed to travel so I think it might be a while longer before I get up there.
I am enjoying the winter sceneries in your photos. We also have travel restrictions in Alaska and other US States, but these restrictions relate to traveling in and out of Alaska. I can drive throughout Alaska without any restrictions other than wearing a face mask in public or crowded areas, or "distancing." But at the moment we have too many hours of darkness, so I am waiting until more daylight is available for me to take photos of the local sled dog races.

Thank you. I’m sure my wintery scenes look like your summer!
