Unfortunately, this photo didn’t turn out the way I had hoped, with the surrounding darkness basically overshadowing the house with the lights.

I would say you, Molly and Clix-Pix are my favorite photographers in here (Hughmac, anotherscotsman and darmok as well), my question would be for you, do you find various animals/ plants every day to take photos of? Or is this like from a backlog that you have? The only reason I ask, is you have such an extensive history of posting wildlife on here, it amazes me that you’re able to find such unique photos on your daily adventures that you photoed probably hundreds of animals/plants.

Thank you so much for the compliment. I certainly don’t feel I’m in the same league as some of the other photographers here.
To answer your question, I generally go to a few places - parks, preserves, and such, about twice a month. I’ll take dozens of photos on an outing. So I do have a backlog of photos to share. Luckily, I have enough variety of locations to allow for a daily contribution that doesn’t have to come from an archive.

That’s my escape from the daily grind. Good for the soul and all that.

Thanks for the compliment; I don't feel 'top drawer' like the others you mentioned but it's nice to have someone appreciate your work.
I haven't picked up a camera for ages as we are pretty well locked down in the UK, so most of what I can share is from my archives.
I'm also a full time carer for my wife and it is difficult to get out and about these days.

Cheers :)

Tanagra (not really)
I'm just fortunate enough to have a lot of nature in my backyard. We have an open field behind us, so it has its advantages, and having a feeder helps, too. We've counted something like 38 different bird species, and of course, more squirrels than we can shake a stick at.

Wow, thank you for the compliment! What a nice way to start my day. ?

I'm not sure if the question is directed at me also, but I shoot nearly daily. In the winter I buy flowers at the grocery store and shoot them. In the summer I usually have stuff growing in the garden. I'm trying for a 365 this year, but I allow myself a little bit of grace. I had a black and white image due yesterday for a 10am Instagram loop, so I actually shot that image the day before just so I'd have it ready. But most often I am literally taking my photo at 1:45 or 1:50 to post for a 2pm loop....I like to shoot daily and find that it's my daily dose of calm and mediation, so I make a point to shoot once a day if at all possible. I also have studio lights for when the daylight slips away from me.

I almost never post old photos, unless it's for one of the weekly challenges here. But my POTD images are 99.8% of the time from that actual day.

Don’t shake a stick at them! It’s squirrel appreciation day!

Why, thank you, Relentless Power!!! Like Molly, I tend to shoot nearly every day although I am not doing a formal 365 POTD. I just like picking up a camera and shooting something, and around here there is plenty to shoot! I am fortunate enough to live on a small lake and we have wildlife ranging from backyard birds to squirrels to ducks, geese, Great Blue Heron, Yellow-Crowned Night Heron, turtles, etc., etc. Sometimes I will glance out my sliding glass door and see some interesting action going on among the birds on the lake and will grab a camera and run out to the deck to capture the fun.

Sometimes the wildlife will come to me, too, as I found last summer when for a while I put birdseed out on my deck and not only the sparrows came but a few squirrels as well! I had such fun with my little furred and feathered friends but unfortunately my neighbors in my condominium building didn't enjoy them as much as I did so I reluctantly had to stop putting the treats out there..... Instead now I sometimes take birdseed and nuts out to our common grounds area and distribute the treats around there for them.

In cold or inclement weather when going outside is not a good idea, I enjoy setting up a tabletop shoot and getting out the macro lens, seeing what I can do with interesting objects that I have around the house. Occasionally I will buy flowers at the store, too, to bring in a reminder of springtime and warmer weather even as I shoot indoors. I love macro work and I love reaching out at a distance with a long lens, too -- both kinds of shooting contribute vastly to my enjoyment of photography.

I've been shooting for many, many years and quite a few years ago was active in the POTD thread but then had a period of time when I shot very little and so stopped contributing. A couple of years ago I slowly started getting back into things again, and for a while I shared some older, favorite images from the past here, mixed in with newer stuff until I realized one day that I was shooting frequently again and that I much preferred having something new to share each day. Usually I will shoot at some point during the day, but don't always get around to editing right away, so often I'll share whatever I had shot the day before or perhaps an image from earlier in the week. I rarely shoot just one or two frames at a time -- I can easily spend an hour addressing a subject from different angles and perspectives! I like finding something intriguing and interesting about even the most mundane of objects. As a friend on another forum says, art is everywhere! Sometimes I will shoot two or three different subjects at different times during a given day with different lenses or different cameras if something comes along later in the day which demands capturing for posterity.

During the pandemic I have been sticking pretty close to home but in better times I enjoy going out to various local gardens and scenic locations to shoot, too. I'm looking forward to the time when I can do more of that again!

Still old stuff, have some fresh images that I should have ready by tomorrow. I may not be doing much at the moment but am having a lot of fun revisiting the archives.
Another version of the Lundbreck Bridge. Love the lighting on this one.

Fantastic light and colour. I love the way the purple tint of the snowy patches brings out the bright, warm sunlight and the contrast between both parts of the photo.

slightly breaking the rules here, but since I’ve been asked about my macro setup, here is a pullback. I don’t usually shoot on a tripod but my 65 pound dog has pulled my elbow out of whack so I’ve been using it more the past couple weeks till my arm gets back to normal. This is the Lensbaby Velvet 56 at f/2.8 and stacked 11 + 18mm extension tubes. Plus an LB Omni color prism.
