This is the only LEGO set that I paid a little extra for as it was retired and it reminded me of my first job working in a movie theater as a doorman (the old time manager called us doormen instead of ushers). It was a fun job and met a lot of good friends though the pay wasn't so great, but what do you expect for an entry level job? Though I wouldn't trade that experience for any amount of money in the world.

Our internet cable company was down for the count a couple of days ago. Since it happened during a big wind storm, think 100+KM/Hr gusts, I was examining our own cable connection and this junction caught my eye. Named it Rat's Nest and it seems rather typical for Shaw.

I consider myself lucky that our fiber is deep in the ground and that there are no little excavators in the neighbourhood. These are a bigger threat than wind. Living in country made of mud and sand has the benefit that all cables can be buried.

If you’d like to feel better about aesthetics, search for utility poles in India, Thailand, or Vietnam.

The other night we had a power outage which lasted for several hours. I think someone banged into a transformer or something similar across the street and the neighborhood first went partly black then totally black. At one point I sat in the bedroom window with the camera capturing the only light around: the energy company's work crew trying to restore power to us!
