if you have flat ice gel packs, you can lay a towel down, lay the ice packs on it, then lay a towel over it and see if your kitty will take to it. p.s. you can also buy cool-gel beds on-line for your next heatwave. I just peaked at your weather - hopefully this is the last day for you for now. So sorry, I know how immense temperature changes like that are really rough on both people and pets.
p.s. For all those folks in Europe going thru this, ... when it happens yet again, heat is a very danferous killer for older people and older pets. Many, many people died in the Pacific Northwest (U.S.A. and Canada)last summer or the one before. It's not just the heat, it's the drastic rise in heat with no acclimation period combined with no air conditioning. I saved an older dog his last summer with gel packs. And people can put the packs under their own under arms, behind the neck, wrists and groin area to lower body temps if they can't get into air conditioning. Soaking a shirt, wringing it out and putting in refrigerator than wearing can help.
Lots of people - mostly older, are dying in Spain and Portugal from this heatwave. If they knew ways to cool themselves down without air conditioning it might have saved them. Older pets also suffer more greatly than young ones in these events.
Stay safe and check on those you love who may be compromised.
