No photo ops today, but just have to make one. Just out of surgery. Doing going good but can’t move about yet. Had to show off with the breathing machine. They set at 1500ml, I topped it at 4000 ml and freaked the nurses out. Now set at 3000ml. Had pacemaker implant 3 hours ago. Another hour before can sit up and move about.

if you have flat ice gel packs, you can lay a towel down, lay the ice packs on it, then lay a towel over it and see if your kitty will take to it. p.s. you can also buy cool-gel beds on-line for your next heatwave. I just peaked at your weather - hopefully this is the last day for you for now. So sorry, I know how immense temperature changes like that are really rough on both people and pets.
Cats are desert animals (for the most). I have seen cats on hot days lay in the sun.

Just checked the weather app on the phone: 111° feels like 114°

I am not a desert animal.

Wow, you've had the medical challenges this last year or so! Sounds as though you're doing fine and I'm sure you'll do fine with the pacemaker. Hang in there and don't rush things during the recovery process!

p.s. For all those folks in Europe going thru this, ... when it happens yet again, heat is a very danferous killer for older people and older pets. Many, many people died in the Pacific Northwest (U.S.A. and Canada)last summer or the one before. It's not just the heat, it's the drastic rise in heat with no acclimation period combined with no air conditioning. I saved an older dog his last summer with gel packs. And people can put the packs under their own under arms, behind the neck, wrists and groin area to lower body temps if they can't get into air conditioning. Soaking a shirt, wringing it out and putting in refrigerator than wearing can help.

Lots of people - mostly older, are dying in Spain and Portugal from this heatwave. If they knew ways to cool themselves down without air conditioning it might have saved them. Older pets also suffer more greatly than young ones in these events.

Stay safe and check on those you love who may be compromised.

🪨 🌊 Davenport Landing Beach, Davenport, California. 🪨 🌊

Unique landforms and picturesque cave with the cold salt water gushing into the layers of slate.

See that mysterious dark cave in the middle? Yeah... I was trying to get myself to go inside the cave without putting myself in danger. However, it was impossible to find a way to get in safely. Along with that, I was also dealing with high tides. I ended up taking an "L" that day.
