The latest addition to the riverbank precinct in town, yet more square footage for the already over-sized convention centre! I went around the exterior of this thing a couple of times trying to find a view of it that was favourable and had it visually tie in to its adjoining section, with no luck at all. My opinion is that it is a stinking piece of fresh doggy-doo in that regard, looking like a poor-mans cheap attempt to nod their head in the general direction of Mr Gehry and his sublime angles and juxtapositions. What in the heck were the architects smoking to stick this on to the already existing part? It has no flow or connectivity at all and I reckon it should win a prize for being the ugliest convention centre in all of existence. I'll show a different view of it tomorrow, so you can see better how it physically joins with the already pre-existing section.
Sometimes, it is best to listen to your gut reactions and just leave an image alone, walking away from it when it doesn't deserve your attention. Just because it's new, doesn't always make it a suitable subject.
