Stuff... is that the short form for the latin pretty-plantus-unknownus

I like that. Nice use of DoF for a dreamy look.

I think the actual Latin for it is "Don't-have-a-clueus-maximus"

We used to have some of this. I think it died.

Like most of the things in my garden. Against all of the odds though this thing thrived - I think because it doesn't need any intervention from us. We bought it about ten years ago and it was around thirty centimetres high and it's around nine feet tall now.

Given my lack of attention, it's amazing anything grows in my yard. :)

If I may make a suggestion, I would brighten the picture and warm up the white balance a little. They're tough plants aren't they? :)

Yeah, they grow at a rate of knots, don't they? It's a black elder. There were a lot of people buying them at Gardeners' World Live (for those that live elsewhere, it's an annual garden show) a few years ago and I wondered at the time how many people would plant them right at the front because they looked small then spend years hacking their way along the path! Nice plant though.

Nice to see you've got the metric system sorted! ;) :)

We bought it with the knowledge that it would get big so we're actually pleased about that. It fills a lot of space in the garden that I then don't have to worry about :)

I'm just easing myself back in to the imperial system now that Brexit appears to have become a reality/nightmare.

Beautiful.

Thanks AFB.

Btw, I just got back from my trip to photograph Coastal Brown (Grizzly) Bears in Alaska and I did get spring cubs. Amazing to see, experience. The down side is that between Africa and Alaska, I'll be sorting, culling and processing for about 6 months but that's definitely a first-world problem so I don't expect much sympathy. :)

Another one - most evenings provide atmospheric drama it seems. Comments always appreciated.

My only comment is "print and frame it - this deserves to be hanging on a wall somewhere".

No sympathy here. Look forward to seeing them.

Now that's beautiful. Best one yet. It would look good on a nice metallic print.

Thanks gents, much appreciated. Hand-held, shot shortly after the ubiquitous afternoon-thunderstorm and only minor cropping out of camera. Slightly under-exposed to get the best colours. Not a bad view from the back of the house.

@anotherscotsman - That sunset is stunning !

Here's one from last week.
I like this one stillcrazyhan -aA bit more restful than my last shot but then subtlety isn't one of my strong points....I imagine that you have had an overload of dramatic sunsets being based in "the swamp"...:)

Agree with everybody saying this deserves to be hanging with pride on a wall somewhere.

Enjoyed an afternoon shooting with a good friend visiting from America down by the sea...

Bet it looks really good. That wasn't a comment about you buying it by the way! Just reminiscing. :)

Nooo! I'll never go back to the old system!! :( I wouldn't inflict that on anyone

You are correct and thank you! One of the issues in grabbing a couple of more shots in failing light and not being patient.

I do a fair bit in the US so have to be bilingual from a unit perspective ("British" and metric) - what my children don't understand is the "old money" - pounds, shillings, pence with all the intermediate denominations (half-crowns, florins, threepenny-bits etc). That was character-building stuff from a mental arithmetic perspective!
