True Tao - Thanks very much, to be honest that shot didn't have too much post done on it, basically I increased the contrast and moved the white balance a bit warmer in Aperture then dropped the saturation down a wee bit . Other than that no other processing.

Wherever I hang my hat...

Another winner, Steamie. Beautiful light and colour towards the bottom of the sky...

Thanks for all the positive comments about my shot yesterday. Latrigg is a well-known beauty spot, but I'd never been there before. I'll definitely make return visits, in different light and seasons. Also, it's easy to get there... :)

This shot is from exactly the same spot, but just turning ninety degrees to my right, as a band of rain swept across Skiddaw (the third highest mountain in the Lake District)...

Over there------->
So close, but so distant

There are two countries visible here. The one in the foreground had its borders shut tight for half of a century. Until 1990, its citizens could not travel abroad, and no one was allowed in for tourism. The island across the water, a free country during that period, looks close enough to reach by swimming. I wonder if anyone did.

The high-rise buildings and hotels along the waterfront are all recent additions.

PS: I'm really noticing a difference in the neighborhoods Doylem and nuwomb hang around in... ;)
And, Steamie... fantastic shots again. You and Doylem compliment each other nicely... but I still say you should look him up and gently give him a boot on the backside for all those times he's leaned on those poor sheep for material interest... ;)

No need to apologize, your comments are always appreciated here! The Canyon is unfathomable, even seeing it with your own eyes. Here is a color version that may be more appealing:

The scale of it is difficult to convey in a photo, that's for sure. One thing your color version reveals that the monochrome rendition didn't is that snow on the ground. I only visited the GC once, but I quickly decided that the air above the canyon (in the form of clouds) is as much an ingredient to good photos taken there as the canyon itself is.

I shot a wedding yesterday, she was looking down at her ring. I love to tell them to look up at the count of 3, always catches a great expression to me.
