Water drops on a lily pad.
Actually it was around 4.30pm. Evening Standard, just in time for commuters.Looks fine to me. Gotta be morning light, judging by the heights of the newspaper piles.
Almost an abstract image. Beautiful
Love the colors and composition. Nicely done!Water drops on a lily pad.
Thanks. If I had metered for the highlights I could have brought the shadows up in post and had some detail in his head.
Yes, that is an option but bringing up shadows in post could also flatten the contrast. Right now the high contrast on the head makes the subject stand out from the background and focuses your attention on him. Just my 2 cent opinion.
Remind me of those haunting Hiroshima shadow photos. If you haven't seen them you should Google them. Very moving.
Fading away.
Really annoyed with myself at this shot. I blew the exposure on his face. It was my first time out on the street with my M9 and I haven't got to grips with the metering. I should have taken another shot but didn't as I was hurrying for my train. Wish I'd have missed it now.

Whitby...
It was shot at F5.6.What sort of aperture for this depth of field?
Really like the composition. Cropped to a panorama type of shape would really give a film noir feel.

Spent a day here 1970-ish with a local lady school teacher and some boys from her class.
Dull grey as I recall, wet and depressing.
Could not look any less like my memory. Love that warmth of colours. The rich reddish bricks splitting the blues and the flow into the horizon.
I like the composition a lot. How much was thought out and how much was it just because you were there?

There's a nor'easter going outside so I'm stuck inside until things calm down enough to play with the snowblower , so , for your entertainment , an update on the egg from last week's contest . Saturday , it was basically just a blob . Now , 3 days later , it's got a rudimentary circulatory system , a beating heart and blood that can be seen moving around . It also appears to have picked up a companion . Looks like some sort of protist attached itself on the top right .

Thank you sirLooked at the large version of this because I was drawn to the image detail quality (sharpness).
This has the feel of a print (inkjet); in that foreground and horizon detailing seem blurred/soft.I am using an rMBP to view.
Is the original image sharp, is it a style choice, is it a limitation of the kit or is it my imagination?

Love the blue.
Quite often get this effect up here, especially late at night in the summer. I'll try and find one from 'Sky' to illustrate.
The first mushers are in to Nome, so I'll start with one of my pictures from today, this team is Nicholas Petit who came in third.
