A bridge over a bridge. Original packhorse bridge with the later road bridge built above it. Comments always appreciated.

Nice. I do wonder why they left the first bridge when they built the second. It must be for something.
Makes it work as a picture as well because you want to know the story behind it.

I'm not really a cake person.

Cheers AFB. Laziness I'd guess - no point in removing it if you don't have to. To be more charitable to the builders, it might also have helped support the arch-former during construction of the later bridge.
Love the composition - but - a bit chocolate box in style. To my eye.

I suppose it looks just 'too' good;).

Apart from style, perhaps removing the lamppost would add to it?? Does that even scan?

Anyway clicked like and added requested comments so big pat on back to me:).

Regards . Sharkey

Cheers Sharkey and thanks for making the effort. The thing about chocolate-box photographs is that a lot of people like them. Could say the same with the 'popular' pieces of classical music or blended whisky, they don't perhaps represent the pinnacle of their respective art form but all have their place. I thought about removing the lamppost but why not see it as it is?

Rather chuffed that I'm being judged as an artist rather than a bod who takes the odd decent picture :)

Chocolate box?

Well seen, well composed, well photographed with excellent exposure control and depth of field?

Tough crowd...

OK OK Agree with all above. Never considered myself tough (unless eaten):).

If that is the look aimed at , good shot, if the lamppost was noted and left decision made.

However comments asked for? So comments given that where constructive and thought out.

Populist image creation is a goal for many photographers-not knocking it.

Finally if comments must only be v+ve, then I guess I had better stop commenting 'cause I have yet to create a perfect image (obvious) or had the shock and awe of seeing one.

Tough crowd indeed - Tsk!

Just a thought.

How many 'open' church doors do you see around?

Sarcasm is unbecoming;);).

This is a style I like. Making the eye follow the wall, as a path to; who knows where.

What was the reason for cropping the wall corners?

I don't understand the meaning of this question.
Churches that are used for mass?
Churches that can be visited to appreciate the history and architecture?
Churches that are permanently staffed and welcoming people seeking shelter or asylum?

I like to visit churches and admire the architecture, but I dislike the institute they stand for. ( but this forum is not the place to start this discussion ).

No problem - constructive comment is always a good way to learn and improve but style is more a personal preference. IMHO this group generally strikes the right balance between fun and learning and acts as a great gateway for people like myself to get into photography and to explore and develop to whatever extent they want/can. Yes, sarcasm is unbecoming but I'm human ;)

Simple reason for cropping the corners - focal length of lens and inability to take enough steps backwards in that spot. I'd guess we all know instinctively that the corners are there so didn't think their omission was a great sacrifice.
