If you ever visit Southeastern Michigan (Hamburg) then visit Zukey Lake Tavern for the best Pizza (my opinion) and their other food is good as well.

Having being born, raised, and going to school in SE MI I was somewhat surprised to have never heard of Hamburg so I had a look to find out where it is. I forget sometimes how many lakes are in that part of the world. The real question though is how is the beer at the Zukey Lake Tavern? ;)

Took the Tuesday Mindful Photography ladies group to see some horses. This fella thought it was all a big laugh. Had some beautiful up-close and personal moments with them. Now I can see why Equine Therapy is such a popular thing!

The best part is that I'll be back with the Friday and Monday groups, so I get to go three times in one week!

Last night and again tonight, the Mindful Photography groups are off into the city for some illuminated projections on the cultural precinct buildings, as part of our Fringe Festival. None of them have ever done night time photography before and I was blown away by what they achieved, as I've been checking over their images on import, for me to select four each to edit. It's gonna be a hard choice, there are some killer images amongst them. Turns out that all of last nights participants do not go into the city, the last time one of them went in was about 15 years ago! Due to anxieties, mainly. So for me, this was quite monumental, that they made the effort to actually break through that and that they felt safe doing it with me, an untrained volunteer! I'm not a qualified support or peer-worker in any way, shape or form. But I did spend the day yesterday undertaking training in how to effectively advocate for people with mental health challenges in their lives. That was a long and gruelling session to get through, the photography last night was my reward to myself!

That's great news. You're really getting the most out of photography for the groups you are working with.
As for not being qualified I'd not worry about it. I've met many qualified mental health workers who haven't got a clue. What you are doing is making a difference.
Keep up the good work.
I hope you took him a carrot as a reward.
