That's great news. You're really getting the most out of photography for the groups you are working with.
As for not being qualified I'd not worry about it. I've met many qualified mental health workers who haven't got a clue. What you are doing is making a difference.
Keep up the good work.
I hope you took him a carrot as a reward.
For me, this is not about making a living, this is about assisting and enabling people to start living again.

Have a suicide prevention workshop intensive coming up soon and have recently been elected as the vice-chair on a mental health advocacy group which influences policies and procedures of dealing with those living with mental health challenges in their lives at a state and local level. We have a lad here that has mentioned having no hope for the future many times and refuses to go to a counsellor of any sort, so this will not only come in handy with my advocacy work but also personally. And yes, there were carrots!

The last two days have been amazing days for me, on Wednesday I did my advocacy training and found out I pleased the adjudication panel and have been accepted to exhibit in this years Shimmer Photographic Biennale Festival, with 10 long-exposure images, a workshop on Mindful Photography and an Artists Talk, sharing how photography literally saved my life. Plus I have to arrange an opening celebration, which I've never done for my past exhibitions. Busy times ahead! And yesterday I received my 17-40mm lens! I'm really looking forward to exploring some ultra-wide long-exposure scenes with it, but had a play with it last night, at the light displays. If it had image-stabilisation, it would be the perfect lens! Had to work pretty hard to get crisp hand-held images in the low light with shutter speeds around 1/15-1/6. And on top of that, I got to help a whole bunch of lovely people explore nighttime photography for the first time! More horses this morning, then cleaning at the mother-in-laws this afternoon, then grant applications to help with the exhibition, then choosing which images to edit for the participants from the last couple of nights and today.

One from last nights trip into town, exploring The Parade of Light. This is one of the participants and I, accompanied by some interlopers, exploring The Infinity Box, which is a 20 foot long shipping container lined with reflective surfaces and cool LED lighting, that you walk through. Couldn't help but get a selfie!

Good luck with the talk and opening celebrations. If you need a celebrity to come and cut the ribbon, I'm available if you pick up flights and hotels!

Beautiful post. Almost makes me feel warmer looking at it.

I like my steak rare. But not that rare.
[doublepost=1521157340][/doublepost]My last one before I disappear to the Photography show then.

Thought I'd try something a little arty. Not sure if it worked or not.

Took my wife (without the kids) to Disneyland yesterday and took some low light photo's at Disney California Adventure before the long drive home. As I mentioned... I'm more comfortable in fashion/lifestyle portrait photography, so I feel like I'm lacking on artsy stuff. Took some pics of benches, fences, buildings at Disneyland... even tried candid street style pics of people at the park... but of all the pics I took yesterday, this is the only one I was compelled to play with in Photoshop post processing.

My daughter attends a high school that teaches students aspects of design (outside of your standard subjects like math and government). The three design tracks available are Fashion, Graphic, and Architectural. Last night the school hosted a Senior Showcase where those in their final year get to exhibit some of their works in design. Here is one of the fashion design student exhibits.

I am finally settled back home after a whopper of a Nor'easter hit my area. Stayed at a hotel just in case power was lost- it wasn't. My husband and I came home during the storm to clean off the heating vent. This photo says it all. I took this on the highway while my husband was driving. It was near white out conditions. Very few people were out. Schools were cancelled and a lot of businesses were closed. Total snow accumulation: Two feet.

The Snow is Back Again

Cheers :)

Sorry, I can't like this. We've had a few weeks of much colder weather than normal, so we are behind in blooming (after what seemed to be an early start). Luckily nothing was really too far out, so things are just in a holding pattern. We might get snow Tue/Wed. So not looking forward to that.
