She does all the work, and he gets to lie in the Sun. It's pretty funny to watch them interact. Reminds me of home. Um, wait, it's worse!:cool::cool::cool:

EDIT: I can't remember exactly where I was, but I saw a group (pride?) with a couple males, at a zoo, and some very miffed females. One male walked up to their 'pond', turned around, and squirted a long line of pee into it. It was like a pressure washer. Minutes later, a female was walking by a basking male, and just reached out and severely biffed him! I mean she was out for damage. He reared up, and walked away trying to shield his face with his shoulder, obviously appearing to be sufficiently chastised. -- I had two cats who acted very much the same. We kept the 'last one out of the box', and apparently she wasn't happy with our choice. She would walk by him, and just savagely thwack him a good one. He always managed to pull off a pained look too. It was priceless to watch. She really just wanted him to be somewhere else... Also, one last story, which is priceless: We were dropping them off at 'grams' for a weeks vacation, and put them both in a single large cat carrier. It was plastic, so seeing in wasn't possible. So on the trip, we started smelling something foul, and assumed that someone let loose with a fart. I blamed her, she blamed me. So, we arrive. I open the carrier, and she, Queen Mom, strides out, and snaps her tail back toward the carrier. No movement. 'OH MY GAWD< DID WE FORGET HIM?' I look in, and he's sitting in the very back of the carrier, looking so *something*, and he won't come out. I reach in, and literally drag him out, and then realize what happened. HE apparently pooped in the cage, and SHE made him sit on it THE WHOLE 2 HOUR TRIP! OMG! Brutal! I had to clean out the cage, and give him a bath. His expression as I swished him around in the tub was 'Can this get any worse?' He howled as I was washing him. A deep mournful humiliated howl. It was priceless. And, yes, before we left the next morning, Queen Mom biffed his butt so hard. It was going to be an interesting week...:D:D:D:D:D:D

I lived at a place that had a whole huge planting of that just outside the window to the bedroom. As a matter of fact, I am smelling that smell right now. It was awesome! So much better than the cows that were occasionally upwind. Even when the cows we at their worst, that mass of flowers would help wash the stench away. Amazing how sights can extract smells from the past. Those flowers were awesome!

Not been very active this last month or so. Took advantage of a 30-minute break in the clouds to capture the Mars-Pleiades conjunction. Taken with 70-300mm Canon lens. Could have done with a lot more exposure time but you take what you can get. I like the colour contrast between the red-ish Mars and the bue-ish nebulosity around the Pleiades.

If anyone is interested in how to do some basic astrophotography shots using standard equipment and free/cheap software, let me know and I'll put together a how-to posting.

Absolutely. Especially as it gets a bit warmer at night.

1. I did not choose to wear this bowtie.
2. If you come near me, except to take off this tie, I will scratch you.
3. If you do not take off this tie, tout de suite, then I will leave some almond roca on your pillow.

Unfortunately Winter is probably the better season (if the clouds ever break) - clearer crisp skies (less humidity and thermals) and longer dark periods to give you a chance of getting anything at all!

I was going to say... Yeah, winter, especially those nights when the temps are below freezing are pristine viewing times. Heck, I was out walking a month or so ago, and saw a chain of Starlink satellites training overhead as they headed ENE about to head south in their orbit. I was so surprised to actually see them. But it was frigid cold, in the low 20's, and no moon. That night I saw four more satellites traversing the clear skies. One slicing through Orion nearly cutting him in half. (Saw a drone flying overhead too, which was odd)

There's something about those long nights too...

What I get from that look is: 'You only wish you could rock a bowtie like me, 'human'' And the second cat is saying 'You had to do it. Give him a big head. He's going to be impossible to live with now.' :D :D :D

This image almost struck out on the first cull. Alpenglo changes very rapidly. In this case from 'spectacular' to 'why did I bother', in the time I turned on the camera, applied the zoom and pressed the shutter release. Whatever redeeming features this shot has are all in the editing, as I missed the glorious moment by 'that much'.

If that's what 'missing it' looks like then I could certainly do with missing a bit more myself :)

The original not to be confused with a second daily post. Resized only. The only reason there is some hint of colour, is that camera exposure bias was set at -1 stop.

In a time span of just a few seconds the scene had gone from a deep pink to a faded yellow, and the clouds had lost almost all of their colour.
