Vienna Austria Europe
Panorama shot. The western and southern parts of Vienna, Austria, some days ago. Mild and young spring colors. Right from the center there is the church "St. Karl Borromäus im Geriatriezentrum Am Wienerwald" inside a large geriatrics hospital (you can see the countless pavillons) that even has it's own narrow gauge railroad.

There is a "real" railroad in the picture too. Who finds it?

Cool panoramic shot Habakuk! The train is in the middle near what looks like to be a construction site?

Another panorama view - the opposite side of the one in my previous posting. At the right side you have Schönbrunn Palace and in the background the old Inner City of Vienna.

All panoramas made with my old Canon Power Shot S40 and put together easily and very fast with Canon PhotoStitch (comes shipped with almost each model of Canon digital camera). Okay they are not perfect but it was matter of minutes...

Great shot! I'm in Vienna now, kinda nice to see this angle. Are you standing on that rise at the south end of Schönbrunn?

Do you mean the Gloriette Palace? Not far from it. The exact geo data for the place where I stood for both panoramas in previous postings is

48°10'36.26"N 16°17'27.82"E

But it's not a public place.

That is so cool!!!!!! Where did you get this?

Thanks. Took this at the Langley AFB, VA airshow. The pilot is the famous Kyle Franklin, son of the great Jimmy Franklin, barnstormer extraordinaire. He does this little pirate gig at the airshows that's pretty cool. He's flying the Waco Mystery Ship, BTW. Here's another for today just for you...

Excellent example of how to shoot interesting pictures of kids... rather than the boring snaps of otherwise normal activities. And a good endorsement for that 17-40L that I've been recommended already. Nice!

Thanks! I agree that pic's of "the kids" can be dreadfully boring, you can always spice it up with exploring angles. The coolest part is I was only about a foot or two away from the action...

The 17-40L on a full frame back is the whip - fo-sho..! It also has great color rendition, just a workhorse in the bag.

Moon rise

Ran out to shoot the whale that has been hanging around the last couple of nights nothing spectacular there, my monopod and I were late to the party. But the moon was nice.
