Great photo! How did you take it? I'm still waiting for dandelions to show up in my area...

Thanks!

The short answer is I used a 90mm macro lens and an external flash shot through an umbrella.

The longer answer is that I started out with this:

40133262180_348214044b_h.jpg

And then spent a considerable amount of time in post making it look like I wanted it to look when I shot it. The challenge was that I needed to shoot it at f/9 to get some semblance of depth of field on the flower which made the background quite messy with some ugly bokeh. And the flower was close enough to the ground that I couldn't darken out the background with the flash (by using a fast shutter speed) as the flash was lighting up everything regardless of what I did. So I got creative in Silver Efex Pro to selectively darken the background.

Had to post this just for the license plate surround. GO DAWGS!

I understand your liking of the surround. The rest of the car, not so much :)

And, on that note, two favorites-my MG and beautiful, glorious Plus-X.

This is some old 120 stock I recently turned up(and paid dearly for). This remains my favorite B&W emulsion for some indescribable reason. Tri-X isn't much grainier, while FP4+ offers finer grain at the same speed and the T-grain films have virtually no grain in their ASA 100 variants. I use a lot of FP4+ and have come to really like it, but I just can't get the mid-tones to behave like good old Plus-X. Kodak delivered one surprise in Q1 of 2018 with the return of TMZ seemingly out of nowhere. Maybe Q2 will bring us Plus-X, although I'm not holding my breath(although initial sales of TMZ were quite strong).

As I said, Plus-X and developed in straight D76. Shot in a Hasselblad 500C/80mm Planar.

So, drifting again from the perceived norm, I hereby submit my favorite video frame from a wedding I shot last year.

Despite the fact that this cannot be considered "photography" per se, I have been finding growing value in the single frame gems hidden well within the guts of image sequences. To support this claim, I had compiled a high speed snap series from the whole day and had it superimposed it towards the end of the wedding video at the begging of the party sequence. This snap compilation can be found here if you're curious enough. Not all of them are marvels, but there are several that are pleasing. Make sure to bring down the speed at x0,25 by pressing the gear button.

Hi 5 on owning an MG. Lovely cars. I have been looking at classic MGs for a while. Lovely lines. Shame the modern one is behind it but nicely done sir!
