I know nothing about mountain biking, but it's not my imagination is it, they are hugely fat tyres with knobblies? What sort of advantage do they give you?

There’s tires in 2.1” to 2.3” width size, your traditional mountain bike, I have ridden/raced those since 1996.
This bike I’m riding now, has 3.8” wide tire, a “fattie” bike. Totally different, I personally love both, but find myself drawn to the fattie bike more. It carves turns better, I can blast thru and rock / root.

Thanks for the explanation, have huge fun! I'm jealous. ;)

Here is a recent photo of Halley. She is four months now, and I would guess probably around 35-37 pounds; we haven't weighed her since her last vet visit. I didn't plan for a studio shot, but I am trying to get her comfortable here with me during the day and she laid down underneath the table I use for indoor macro shots. I pulled my light to the front of the table and lowered it as much as it would go (and then did a lot of cloning and canvas extension in post). Her eyes aren't really this amber, but they showed up that way with the studio light; in real life they are much darker, which makes her normally quite difficult to photograph.

We walk her 3-4 miles daily (usually one 3 mile walk in the morning/afternoon and then just a mile or so before bedtime to wear her out) and she is starting to settle in energy wise. As a lab/collie mix, she is really a working dog and loves the long walks. She has started to lose her puppy teeth and I think her favorite thing in the world is ice cubes.

She is drop dead gorgeous, Molly! ?

I love the intense sense of connection, inquisitiveness & intelligence conveyed here, that was well worth all the time cloning, extending & editing. We do 14-16km walks three times a week & 5km twice a day on the other days, plus whatever she does when out exploring as she runs here there & everywhere.

My image for today, from a spot of urban exploration in an old industrial complex that is getting knocked down soon to become a highly sought after inner suburban subdivision that will doubtlessly be filled to overflowing with ecologically insensitively designed MacMansions! After having worked as a consultant back in the mid 90's advising on ecological building practices for architects, builders & home owners, I am offended deeply at how the practice of building the modern home here in Australia still fails to even take into account simple things like solar alignment or the use of adequate eaves! ?

Stepping off my lofty liquid soap dispenser box now.... here's a bit of decrepitude for you all, captured & edited on my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Welcome Back!!!
Thanks, it's good to see you're still here, a place like this needs a patriarchal figure to decree wisdoms at whim! ;)

Do you still have your extensive fish collection & how is the macro photography coming along? Hope all is well in your world & you're still capturing wonderful floral imagery too.

I went off in search of fog this morning, but the weather conditions had changed overnight & it wasn't to be!

I hope I am not out of order asking, but did you happen to take any frames here that captured all of the signs over on the right? If so, does it look any better with all of that in frame? My eye keeps searching for the rest of that part of the image! I do love the moodiness you achieved here though. :)

U.K.
My Lupin has a very specialised visitor. The Lupin Aphids (Macrosiphum albifrons) are real specialists. As they suck fluids from the lupins’ tissues, they absorb the alkaloids, which makes them unpalatable (possibly toxic) to the insects that would normally act as control species.
This little one is about 3mm in length, shown here on a Lupin flower head.

Comments appreciated.

Historic home closed for over a year due to hurricane damage. At least they have the blue tarps off the roof and a new roof installed. Still working to repair interior damage before opening for public tours. The grounds have been open with its expansive gardens and a very popular wedding venue.

Yup , still have somewhere between 25 and 30 tanks in the basement . Keeps me busy in the winter and during the quarantine . I'm right in the middle of the NY/NJ coronacrap hotspot . Had a medical scare last summer that impressed upon me that I'm no longer 19 and immortal so have been laying real low since early March . It's getting warm now , and the parks are open again so some bug photography should be lurking in the future .

That's so good to hear. Please look after yourself. I look forward to some bug images when it's safe for you to do so. We had an interesting encounter on our Lemonade tree yesterday with what we thought was a ginormous (90mm long) pupa that we couldn't identify, until we realised it was a seed pod from a climbing vine! I was so looking forward to the emergence of the Son of Mothra too.... ?
