Fuji XE1 with XF35mm @ F1.4, 1/50, ISO 3200

I bought a D800 last Friday, this is one of my favorites that I've taken so far. I came from a D5100, but wanted something I could control a bit more.

Fall in Alsace

Took this picture some weeks ago in France. Had a good time wine-tasting as well. What do you think?

So it turns out that these little guys do actually stop and rest every now and then. Dappled shade under the arbor wasn't ideal lighting, but I liked this shot nonetheless.

Anna's Hummingbird (Male) [3-1587] by MCH-1138, on Flickr

It's clearly dead. Ceased to be. Pushing up the daisies.
The only reason it is sitting on its perch in the first place is that it has been NAILED there.

A resting hummingbird. Humbug!
:)

I was photographing this nature reserve yesterday, when I saw a bird of prey, flying low over the pasture. Silver-grey, with black wing-tips: a male hen harrier. Spectacular!

No pix, though. Birds are 100% enjoyment for me. A camera would get in the way... though I always have a monocular (8x30) in my pocket...

faded glory

Given all of the glorious autumnal colours so far, here is something that is past its best (know the feeling). Stirling campus again. Comments always appreciated.

Another 2 month pic. Hate to flood the thread with baby pics, but it's what I'm shooting most these days. As he gets older I won't be sharing as much (or at all), for many reasons... But he's still at the age that these are "generic" baby pics :)

Not quite a baby, but this little cutie stole the show for me at Comicon on Saturday.

I asked his mother if I could take his picture (always careful to do that with other peoples kids!) and afterwards thanked the little boy. I jokingly asked if he was the real Dath Vader, at which point he pulled off his mask and said he wasn't.
