Saw-whet Owl

DSC_5704-L.jpg

I've been after a shot of one of these guys for ages. At about 15 cm (6 in.), they're small for an owl an difficult to spot. Their size also makes them vulnerable to larger predators so they tend to hide in the thick covering of coniferous trees.

Finally got this guy today in a relatively clear spot.

So nice! I have yet to see one. Have heard them though.

Took my new X100T out for a test drive today whilst on business down in London. Didn't get much of a chance to take many photos due to being in a rush but here's one of my usual stalking efforts.

Very nice, clean picture. Is that one of the b&w presets or did you convert it yourself? Of course, the problem with b&w is that you can't tell pale trousers from skin at that size!

It was the Classic Chrome filter that I played around with in Snapseed.

They were definitely trousers :)

Miserable day in the NYC area …. rain-sleet-snow , so something from earlier in the year when it was warm and pleasant …..
