It was a "top down" kind of day yesterday morning...

The image doesn’t load for some reason.
Actual lighting. All of the lighjting is very dim and dingy - presumably to preserve the things on show. I added a vignette to highlight the spotlight even more.

Hmm. Is it still not working? I’m posting it via a pretty old-school method (embedded via Photobucket), so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was broken somehow.

Another from my recent trip - Imperial Point, Kaibab Forest.
Let me know when you guys get bored... not sure I am really happy with the composition on this one. Should have gotten lower as feel the bench is lost in the weeds. Or maybe should have gotten closer... damnit! too far to go back to do it again.

My oldest granddaughter. I really struggled with the composition on this one... I'm not sure that I like way the negative space on the right side plays against the wall on the left side... but I didn't like a tight crop, either.

Lovely flattering light. I see what you mean about the background but personally I dont think it is drawing the eye away from the subject in a negative way.

fun fact, istockphoto approved this photo for sale....and yes, you guessed it, signature collection....!! for an out of focus picture!

Was turning off the water to the outdoor spigots on our house getting ready for winter and one of the faucets had a slow drip before it eventually stopped. The temperature dropped below freezing during this and created a little ice sculpture on the ground. Experimented with different ways to light it with an external flash. Settled on this one with the flash behind and to the right which brought out some of the texture on the ice surface.
