"Reeled In"
This is a brown pelican from Morro Bay Ca. This pelican has its pouch completely torn from its beak. This, as well as hundreds of others, is usually due to a pelican getting stuck on the hook of a fisherman's line. There have also been many cases were people deliberately slash the pouch on a pelicans bill, which is a form of animal cruelty (see: http://articles.latimes.com/2005/apr/19/local/me-pelicans19)
Help save the pelicans!!
Coming from a newbie here so you can take it how you want, but this picture is outstanding. The photograph needs no footnote for those that understand what you captured and the small amount of properly placed color you added really helps bring it all together. It is truly an inspiration to me as a beginner and an example of the level I hope to achieve as a photographer some day. I really believe this photo could be on a Time magazine cover. Again, I am new to this but I still know what I like, and your photo really grabbed me.
What lens is that? I love the blurred background
That is terrible

Love the mood in this pic...
Top Withins, a ruin on the Yorkshire Moors, is (supposedly) the inspiration for 'Wuthering Heights' in the novel by Emily Brontë...
The weather in UK is awful, but, between the rain-showers, the light can be interesting...
Howgill Hills...
Great shot ,I love the light in it . There's a real moodiness to it.
Sonor! Where did you take this picture? Devon?
This looks like it could be a WWII shot of a Russian submarine sailor or something like that. I LOVE it.
Train driver
I also really liked the HDR here. The amount of detail and all the texture makes it look like a render from a super high end video game. I can almost image this in BioShock, for example.
