Actually we've had a let off in our area, not too much rain last night, but I've been reading about the flash floods everywhere else.

Cheers :)

Hugh

Wow your lucky! We are only down in Rye and it's howling down here as I write! ☹️️

I've just been out with the dog, and it's spitting with a light cool breeze. I'm in North Kent just north of the River Medway by the way.

Oh, too late - it's just started raining more heavily :(

Cheers :)

So not my usual bag today. I was in Amsterdam for work at a little canal side restaurant so took a few pictures of some of the people sitting near us.

As you know I'm not really a people shooter, but thought the lighting worked well here. As I was travelling light, it was just the D7100 and 50mm 1.8, no speed lights.

Comments always appreciated.

Nicely done. I think you got the amount of foreground and shutter length spot on.

We always have a bird bath - firstly it gives the birds water in the summer, and secondly we get more visitors.

What do you think of the lens quality though; is it good enough for the shot? Maybe I should have gone f/8 - f/11 to get it cleaner?

Cheers :)

Hugh
Good enough, but not the sharpest shot I've seen. Maybe try f8-f11 as you suggest. Or it might just be optics are out a bit. I probably wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't asked.

Thanks for your help, maybe I was being too picky. I've been doing some research, and most users say the sweet spot at full zoom (210mm) is f/8-11 as I suspected, but sharpness is best at 135mm if I can get in closer. There's not too much difference in subject size when you're just out in the garden.
I will have another bash soon - there's always plenty of birds around the bath - I have to refill it every day as they splash all the water out.

Cheers :)

Hugh

Lol... I flew out of Heathrow last night as it was arriving and the plane ride climbing out was entertaining! Thankfully Glasgow was blue skies and fluffy clouds today...

Harvest moon. Always makes you wish you had a few more mm at your disposal. Comments always appreciated.

Nice. These are the pictures I miss since moving to Sony.

On my Canon I had some decent if not stellar reach but there still isn't a credible super tele option for the Sony without going the adapted lens route.

So totally envious of this shot. Nicely done to get the harvest colour too.

Nice shot there. Wonder though if maybe capture the reflection in the water more, maybe longer exposure? Dont know I am fascinated with reflections all of a sudden and I keep messing them up.
