The Brisbane Nepalese Peace Pagoda, originally built for the 1988 World Expo, with the Brisbane Wheel behind it, just after sunset.

This is a two image stitch, using the tilt-shift lens, taking one frame lower and one frame higher in landscape orientation, reassembling in Photoshop and cropping it square, losing the superfluous foreground. From memory, about 1.5 degrees of upward tilt was applied to bring the top of the Brisbane Wheel into focus.

Kenoh, RCAFBrat is correct. Horses/cattle walk up the ramp to get from the corral up onto the trailer. There is a one-word term for it that I can't remember at the moment. The photo was taken about an hour outside Roswell, New Mexico, heading southeast on US 285. By the way, you can't find lodging in southern New Mexico/West Texas to save your life by late afternoon when the oil business is booming.

Thanks for the explanation. I can see it now. Nice.

Wouldnt me nd checking out To swell at some point. Maybe one if my wacky trips over there will take me there one day.

Welcome aboard!

Rock structures, kind of like seats in the local park.

Splashed out on a Firecrest 16-stop ND. Only played a bit with it so far but I'm really impressed by the lack of colour cast and the minimal loss in clarity. An example of a 6-minute exposure of a local church. Literally 2 minutes of post in Capture One and voila. Comments always appreciated.

Wonderful POV and good light on the tower section really adds to the moodiness of the image!

Oh, a suggestion, get your shutter speed to 1/250th before applying the 16 stopper, then set your exposure for 4.5 minutes. It works perfectly for me and doesn't overheat the sensor of the 6D, which I find happens when you go beyond 5 minutes.

I'll certainly take that on board - I did find a few sensor hot pixels at 6 minutes - hadn't seen it before even in similar long exposures in low-light (but cool) conditions.

How did you manage to do a 6 minute exposure and get the clock to stay at 12(ish) and not move by 6 minutes? was it broken or did you that after in pp?
Great shot with an almost eerie, atmospheric feel to it. Good one.

Another cracker here, the colour an contrast you get in your photos is truly wonderful, is it a single exposure or multi?
The clouds are fantastic too there is real depth to them.
I love your landscape shots keep 'em coming.

Feeling the cold this morning and felt this simple, dreamy summer shot would warm me up a little. What a lovely evening it was.

I am not sure what it is that works with this shot but i find it truly amazing, it is stunning and it really does work. The colours are so gentle and the light on the water at the front draws your eye forward to the cliffs with the dark band of rocks. There isnt anything specific in the photo to detract from a gentle, serene beach scene. Cracking shot.

Next street over and south a bit: Frenchy’s Salt Water Cafe.

Visited with a few school buddies during spring break in 1990; we tried everything on the menu except the fish paste sandwich (they were out) and liked it so much we even bought the t-shirts. Went back the next day for lunch but the line was around the corner and we had to hit the road.

Not sure now if I got the name right (no idea where the t-shirt is)!

Cheers

Thank you very much - it's a 3 shot bracket, combined using Google Nik HDR Efex, with a little bit of fiddling with the curves to get the cloud effect.

Cheers :)

You got it right. Good memory. There are 3 Frenchy's restaurants in Clearwater Beach, the one you mentioned is the original. We ate there 4 times. Dozen fresh oysters for $12 and a bowl of mussels for $5. Sit at the bar, not the tables; you'll be treated more like a local.

I've tried a few HDR shots myself, its very effective getting the shadows and highlights and gives the pictures anther dimension. Clearly, you a better at it than I am but, even though I think I may have posted this before, heres one of my efforts at HDR taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower looking down on the Palais de Justice. The green in the centre is actually water not grass.

.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day - in this case definitely broken.

I took a little break from here after my parenting skills were called into question, but even my son who throws shells is mesmerized by them. Despite photographic evidence to the contrary, he is actually one of the most gentle souls you will ever meet. But he's still a 9YO boy, so still developing brain reasoning.
