A Butterfly's Moldy Meal

ButterflyMoldyCopy.jpg

Daegu, South Korea
Canon A640
f/4@1/200
iso 80
lens on macro setting, widest angle
cropped a bit

As the growing season ends, the butterflies are as busy as ever, sucking where they can. I didn't notice the powdery mold on the flower until I downloaded the files.

Thanks.

I couldn't be happier with the A640. The butterfly shot didn't need any color/exposure adjustment. Canon's Digic II really has that nailed. All I did was sharpen it a bit.

Not too clear but i kinda like it anyway, really need to get round to cropping that bottom bit off though! :(

Yeah, please crop that bottom bit. It looks like you just shot an ass cheek while it was in the frame. :p

@Freebooter: Nice macro. Wish I saw butterflies here, but I don't see them really. I think they're around, though. All I've got are bees, which are a smaller and make it harder to shoot for me. :( Can't believe how close you can focus in on an insect with an A640. Makes a macro lens purchase seem a bit too expensive when you can get shots like that with a point and shoot. :)

There was sporadic rain and hail falling in the distance (over downtown Toronto), and about 2 minutes after taking this photo, it hit my location. I ran for cover and eventually hid inside a port-o-potty until it passed :D

Hey, thanks simle, abstract, Rickay726, p0intblank and ksz for the kind words about the butterfly shot. This thread and its contributers/commenters have helped motivate me to take more and better photos. :)

The day I took the shot (Oct. 12) was good one in many ways. After I took the butterfly shots, I shaved a minute and a half off my previous best time on my usual mountain run. Then i went to work and had an especially fun time. As the song goes, some days are better than others.
