Been a while since I was here, but it's good to be back! Lots of great pics in here, wow! Love the Iceland one, the ones from Toronto...

Okay, was on 1 of the Dutch isles this weekend, pretty windy out there, so I went to the beach and shot this:

DSC01509.jpg

1/250th at f4.5
ISO 100
9.1 mm

Did some work on it in iPhoto to bring out the red in the bush, while keeping the blues in the sea and air. Came out quite nicely and better than the original, which was much flatter, I think. The clouds in the upper left corner may be a bit over-exposed, but no way I can fix that in iPhoto, and I kind of like this way of representing the sky, makes it more 'impressioniste' :D...

Have some more, will follow in the coming days.

I don't have a fancy SLR or anything, though I wish I had one. I try to get a little creative with my little Nikon P&S. This is the pond behind our cabin about 2 weeks ago. Yep, that much in snow in some places of NY already.

I took this photo at the beach (of course) yesterday (Nov 14th) during sunset.

Actually, it's not really a sunset. I took it facing the opposite direction away from the sunset since it wasn't great yesterday. I like clouds, so bear with me.

I like this shot a ton! The perspective is very, very nice :)

Thanks. :) I usually think my photos are rather plain.

I edited the photo and repost it after your post to make it brighter.

It does look better brighter. I'm a big fan of overexposing my photos - the brighter, the more vibrant the color, the better :)

I'm a fan of underexposing my shots by 1/3rd of a stop because I'm a big fan of keeping details in the clouds rather than blowing them out and losing the details. ;) Of course, you lose something entirely different when underexposing to much, but I still like the results better when I underexpose.

Actually, I overexposed most of these shots by 1/3 or 2/3 of a stop because of the scene and lighting situation. I knew the photo would be too dark overall if I listened to the meter on my D50, so I decided not to. Still came out a bit underexposed though, which again, is something that I prefer over overexposing a shot.

Of course, in many situations where the lighting isn't tricky, I just listen to the meter.

Taken Yesterday 11/13/06. On the way home from Florida. Funny thing is we were flying though a storm so the picture came out basically black and white. All I did to this picture was upped the saturation a bit to enhance whatever color was there.

Make: Canon
Model: Canon EOS 30D
Size: 3504x2332
Bytes: 3133742
Aperture: f/9.0
ISO: 1600
Focal Length: 85mm (guess: 91mm in 35mm)
