A neglected temple crumbles in the forest.

This is an HDR-panoramic composite of 11 frames with 3 exposures each (33 photos total). I used Photomatix for HDR and AutoPano Pro for the Panorama.

I love that little hut. It really anchors the image!
What time of day did you take that?

Thanks, guys! After my first trip to Conowingo Dam I knew I wanted a longer lens but was not about to fork out $5000 or $6000 or more for a 400mm or 500mm prime lens.... I looked at Sigma's Bigma and the Tamron and decided that for my purposes the Tamron would fit the bill better than the Bigma. Even with 500mm, I still had to do some cropping with this and my other images from that shoot, but overall I was pleased with some of my shots. Some people put a teleconverter on their lenses, but since this lens is pretty slow (f/6 is the widest at the 500mm end) I figured it would be best not to do that. This is a nice lens for handholding as well as mounting on a tripod and if the light is good it seems to do pretty well. This eagle in the tree shot was handheld. I'd say the Tamron is a decent, inexpensive way to get longer reach. I also have the Nikon 80-400mm, which I like very much, too; I haven't had a "shootout" comparing the two yet, but intend to do that one of these days. Definitely neither of those lenses can compare to a fine prime 400, 500 or 600mm lens, but if one is not shooting for publication or selling large prints it's not as critical an issue....

There wasn't a lot of eagle action and the light was not great much of the day on Saturday, but I did get a few nice ones of eagles sitting either on one of the towers or in a tree. I liked this shot because the bird was doing a little more than just sitting there posing regally for us! I managed to capture this image as he was getting ready to take off....

I took this outside the Lourve in Paris, on the streets with the up market shops. It was also the last shot I took in Paris. I didn't realise in Paris that the homeless weren't moved on and away from the high class areas of Paris. They were all over the place, but mostly still ignored.

Taken with a Fuji F10 Finepix.

The intensity in the eyes and the motion blur of the wings is just so cool.

nice photo - do you do this with a tripod (I assume you don't handhold for 33 frames)?. Is this the same temple from before that had the spooky faces inside it (you posted some time ago)?

Yes, to both questions. For HDR a tripod is essential, otherwise the frames don't line up and you get a blurry result.

I've been enjoying your work lately as well.

SRSound Thanks.
