I went on a trip to Malliag (small harbour village further up coast) yesterday. The weather was awful so I didn't really get many decent shots.

Smile! You're on Candid Camera...

Another shot from my archives of old film stuff... police officer in Oregon City, OR. These scans are small, but originally intended for web display only...

stcroixsailor, I love the reds in that photo, especially reflecting on the water. Its pretty rare for us to get one of those deep, red sunsets here.

I went by my Alma Mater the other day, and was shocked to see what has been done to the campus. They've continued the trend started 15 years ago, and intensified in the last 5 years, that green space gets in the way of revenue generating businesses.

They've torn down acres of forest, several historical buildings, and replaced them with ugly glass covered corporate institutions. Fields that students used to recline in to study and socialize are now restaurants that you have to pay if you want to spread your books out.

I wouldn't be upset if it was replaced with space for students, but this isn't. One of the beautiful fields has been replaced by a Shopper's Drug Mart. An old forest is now million dollar condos that the professors couldn't even afford. Acres of parking have been turned into more townhouses. Students now have to park a mile away and take a shuttle bus in -- and pay for the privilege of it!

It seems that for every one building that gets built for students, two are going up that are for corporations.
