I really like this shot as well, is the Eos30d a recent acquisition ? I seen to remember your previous shots being taken with the Rebel Xti.:)

Yeah I outgrew the XT, I am might be getting a d-mark III soon or 5d replacement when it comes out

Sitka Spruce

This tree is one of two 100+ yr old Sitka spruces just down the gravel road from my front gate. One of them was cut down 3 years ago (suffering from internal rot, thus in danger of coming down on its own. When trees this size were common, it would have been considered medium/avg. with the giants upwards of 500 yrs. old.

Thanks for the C&C. The other horse was indeed distracting. The horizon was sloped ( as you correctly guessed).
This is how it came out:
IMG_2684sc2.jpg

I now feel the horse has moved too much to the center...

I agree on the position of the, now "lone," horse when compared with the original. After looking at the original, and the newer crop... I have to say that the original has more drama, and impact. The panorama effect, and distance from the horses opens up the landscape - it would really work as a large print. Sometimes, initial instincts are the ones that work best...

Anyway, very nice scene, well captured.
