If you look at this photo for a little while, you may notice that the background color seems to shift from yellow to more and more green.
At least it does for me.... ;) curious, auto-white balance in action

Taken in the same spot as yesterday's post, about 20 cm and a few minutes apart.

Once again freebooter you raise the bar ! Absolutely Love Your Shots. I really need to go buy a good macro lens.

I really need to go buy a macro lens but I quite like this one anyway.:)

inner/outer worlds

An odd crop from a shot inside the coffee room at Powell's Books, Portland, OR. I don't know why, but I kind of find it interesting in the contrast between folks reading and the outside world just doing it's thing.

Out in the yard yesterday... is the blue fringing around the sky area a bad thing? The sky was very blue behind the oak.

Wow, that is absolutely beautiful, with what looks like a storm in the background. Very cool!

Thanks! You've made my day. The weather was indeed about to change.
South England has had some foul weather lately. I have a larger version if you want...

I agree with Cassie, this is a beautiful photo. I love the way the horse is just standing there despite the storm brewing. It gives a great sense of calm before the storm. And the way it is cropped is great and really makes the picture show a sense of vastness.

The ominous weather and horizontal framing make this an appealing photo, but I would suggest (a) cropping out (or photochopping) the horse on the right to focus on the more interesting horse on the left, (b) reducing the sharpening, and (c) straightening the horizon even if the ground is naturally sloped.

Thanks for the C&C. The other horse was indeed distracting. The horizon was sloped ( as you correctly guessed).
This is how it came out:

I now feel the horse has moved too much to the center...

I'm quite fond of these bold little bugs. They can hop amazingly far and accurately, and, far from hopping away, these guys tend to jump toward me.
This one was perched on the same bunch of flowers as the mantis and spider in my last two posts.

I think i liked the slope better. To me it looked more natural and you had an element of the horse moving from the higher area in the light down toward the darkness. I do think taking out the second horse was a good idea.

Agreed; the original slope does look better. BTW, the horse on the left is in front of a bright part of the sky, which makes it stand out, but the original horse on the right--a dark figure--was against a dark part of the sky, hence lacking contast and being unnecessary.

I got home and my roommate had got a bunch of flowers during the day for his girlfriend. It was a great time to take a few shots before they were given away.
