Glencar Lake

Trees by Glencar Lake/Mountains, Ireland (it was in the evening right after the clouds were clearing, and the light was just starting to turn golden):

Cheers, Colin.

Freebooter, you are an AMAZING photographer.

What do you mean when saying diffuser?

Thanks a lot!

The diffuser I use is a simple, homemade device for softening and directing the light from the built-in flash. I used a 2 liter plastic milk jug, wrapped it in aluminum foil (except the part where the light comes out), then wrapped duct tape over all to protect the foil. With a couple of finger on the jug handle, I hold the mouth of the jug to the flash and the lens with thumb and fore finger. Voila! Works quite well if the subject isn't too far away. I made a few other designs but the original described here seems the best overall--very light, rugged and easy to handle. I bought a big flash recently but the wet weather of late has limited my use of it.

Hidden Butterfly

It's a shame it wasn't a more colorful butterfly, since it gets lost easily in the picture.

This is beautiful! Is it a single image? Cropped to be horizontal? Panorama? If it's just a single image, I think I may be amazingly jealous of your wide-angle lens!

Thanks baby duck monge! It is a single image cropped to be horizontal. I only used the kit lens that I am quite fond of. 18mm feels wide in the viewfinder however.

The Burning...

The first of my pics from a recent trip to the Peloponnese, Greece.
The smoke left by a forest fire, in the evening sun.

Either way, I think it's great. That will teach me to read the EXIF data more closely, though, because I could have seen that you were using the kit.

This is from a pretty good storm we got here last night...I had to wait tell the storm got a little south of us because of the hard rain(I didnt want to get my camera wet). Its alittle blurry but I thought the colors/clouds were kinda neat.

That's great! Forest is not easy to capture. You did it.
I particularly like it because I spent a looooong time in coastal forests, in BC. I miss that damp, mossy, mushroomy, clean, fresh wilderness.

A beauty of a pic.!

I like it!

Thanks. You're right, there is something very unique about the forests of the Pacific NW. I often expect to see hobbits and little houses carved into the big cedars...

BTW, your waterdrop pics are just fantastic. I also appreciate your tip on making the diffuser for your built-in flash. I'll have to try something like that out.
