I know this is not a picture, but I have been seeing everyones pictures and posting my own for a while, so I trust everyones opinion here. I am going to be buying a DSLR soon. I was sure I wanted a Nikon D40, and so many great pics are here that were taken with it. I now think I might swing toward the Sony Alpha. One thing that bothers me is that I have never seen a picture here taken with the Alpha. Does that mean you guys don't like it, or it just has a really small market share? I don't want to pollute this thread with something other than pictures. So could you guys either e-mail me at Silverbird0000@aol.com or if everyone doesn't mind, just re-post here.
You may try starting a new thread on the Digital Photography sub-forum.
Also, these matters are discussed absolutely to death on the forums at DPReview.
Just my two bits...from what I recall, the Sony is good but is 'noisier' at high iso settings and the lens selection is limited. Also, I've seen hints that indicate to me Sony is releasing a new camera or two very shortly. The Nikon D80, Canon XTi or 40D, and less so the Olympus 510 or Pentax K10 (fewer lenses than C or N), may be better choices in that price range.
I really love my D40 (picture quality is great) but just got a D80 for the extra features I figured I was missing out on.
I'd love to see those shots if you do get them.xcalibre: Yep, the color is straight out of camera. It is a veeery small flower drenched and dripping. As to what makes it that color: God (or equivalent) I want to do some more of this kind of flower tomorrow, since the one I posted is not entirely satisfactory, to me. Rain again! Stay tuned... Also, can you share your post-procesing for the boat shot?

Nikon D40x
This is from a pretty good storm we got here last night...I had to wait tell the storm got a little south of us because of the hard rain(I didnt want to get my camera wet). Its alittle blurry but I thought the colors/clouds were kinda neat.

My contribution this time:
Canon EOS 30D with fisheye.
ISO 400(as far as I remember)
15 second shutter speed.
Taken in Copenhagen during riots earlier this year.
I'll say it because I've done it recently, but you have posted this before. I remember thinking it was cool the first time (and I haven't changed my mind), but it's definitely been up.
