Curious - how did you meter this one (what did you meter off of, and what type -e.g. center weighted - nice exposure for the foreground with the Sun in the lens. Also, that's a great blue you captured in the sky - again, especially with the sun. Did you use a polarizer?

Pretty sure the metering was center weighted, and I believe it was probably metered off the trees, if I remember correctly. The foreground was pretty lucky. I didn't use a polorizer, but I did do a curves layer+mask for the sky, and some added saturation to the blue channel.

P.S. M@lew... love that newest B&W street shot... nicely toned.

I was walking up fifth avenue and I noticed a bunch of colorful ribbons flowing in the wind and lined up on the gates of a church. Each and every of these ribbons represented a soldier that had passed away during the still continuing warfare in Iraq. The ribbons stretched around the corner of the block, and I believe they represented the deaths of those just within New York City and its close surrounding areas.

I took this last March while at our condo for spring break. Its on the beach in Destin, FL. I just thought the colors were pretty cool, what do you guys think? The blue reflection of light on the sand is from this little restaurant/bar.PS. I have a tread going called "fliters for lenses" if anyone wants to reply to it!:D

Hey was this shot in color and then converted? How are you making it looks so dark and really clear. if that makes sense. :)

Yeah I shoot RAW, convert to black and white with Lightroom but I don't just de-satuarate the image. I play around with highlights etc. until I'm satisfied. Then I edit to final photo in Photoshop where it's usually just dodging and burning. I think this is how it gets so dark yet clear.
