Thank you so much for your info. Maybe i'll just try to find the same lens you use. Do you know if it is still for sale anywhere?

It's been discontinued since the AFS VR model came out, so...maybe you'll find a few. Trouble is, the old model. new, cost pretty close to the new model. (maybe $200 diff.) But you ought to be able to get a good used one without too much effort for $400 or less, unless you live in the sticks, as it were.

how do archieve this effect (without using photoshop)?

O.K., so...

I used a Nikon D40 with a Sigma 10-20mm (@10mm) manual focused close to get the pavement sharp. I held the camera very low for drama, intentionally trying to get the sun just so. RAW capture with the pop-up flash as fill. Post-processing--ummm... I'm pretty ad hoc. I can't remember if I used the 'Orton technique'--use google--a free action I picked up that does an Orton thing, or if I used the beloved NIK Color FX plug-in (if you can, get it). Maybe I used more than one. I remember trying to rescue the highlights with the shadow-highlight tool in PS. Also,
If you don't have PS, try one of the free alternatives like GIMP or SeaShore.
If you want to do it without any post processing (which purists consider cheating) try a soft focus filter with a lot of saturation. It won't be the same, but... Lately I've been using the SFX filters very little, since macro doesn't need them. That said, every day shots can be helped by appropriate treatment.

ps: Marvelous composition colinmack, wonderful sharpness bld44, nice mood oblomow, really nice overall libertyterran.

Link to Hoya Filter site: http://www.hoyafilter.com/products/hoya/hoya-05.html

The softening effect can be achieved with a filter and for the general 'snap' and 'screamin' colours you can crank up contrast and saturation in your camera.
Because the image has this 'super-brightness' you could also try to deliberately over expose 0.5 to 0.75 stops.

have a nice day.

Watch out!

Football game, Worcester, MA. Taken Saturday, 9.15.07:

Camera: Nikon D70s

I almost got plowed over about .3 seconds after the shutter snapped this one. But I thought it was pretty neat anyhow.

So this was the first football game I ever went to. JMU dukes vs. VMI and I thought I'd see how I am at shooting sports. Tell me what you think.
