I love the effect, cookie1105. How long did it take to do?

Thanks gekko.

It took about 10 mins. levels>channel mixer>erased the channel mixer layer over the glasses>crop>resize for web.

The shot is actually very close to how it came out of the camera. The levels just added a little bit more contrast to the face.

This would look cool in B and W, with a red filter. (But I like it as it is, too :) )

Just got back a couple of hours ago...2 days in transit to get back to the USA (2 hrs Cessna 206 + 8 hrs 777 + 8rs 767, plus layovers), then 2 hours downloading ~30GB from the digital wallet.

First image uploaded out of roughly 4000 taken over 2 weeks...need to show it to the parents :)

Wow, great photo. ;)

But I have a suggestion. See how the 2nd slider is the sharpest, while the 3rd and 4th sliders on the right are noticeably blurrier? It would probably be better if the 3rd or 4th one was the most in focus, and the 1st and 2nd sliders were blurrier. It just seems weird how the 2nd slider is the sharpest because of it's position in the photo. It sits so far to the left of the image.

Also, you should dust your board and clean out the tracks before taking a picture of it. :p

I know what you mean. I wasnt really going for a faded look becuase I didnt think it could be achived with my camera, and when i loaded it onto my computer and saw how nice the photo was I was so happy becuase i could never get photos that nice. But I still think it looks great for a first shot. I'll update my blog everyday, I have tons of pics, but I don't want to post more then 1 a day. I'll post everyday on here too.

Thanks for the comments.

PS. Does anyone know how to check the shuter speed on a digital camera like mine (Fujifil finepix s5000) help would be great.

Edit: @ dsharits, I aggre, but I find the dust gives it a cool effect.

That's exactly what I thought as well. So I brought it in to PS and added a selective lens blur, to give the illusion that the photo was taken with a more open aperture. Then, I played with the color/saturation, and added a vignette to bring more focus to the sharp slider.

^^Better. :) I think the photo has to be retaken to get the 4th slider to be the sharpest (or even the 3rd slider, but it depends where they are located in the frame), but definitely the right idea.

His photo was also pretty decent considering how yesterday, he was complaining that his camera can only take blurry photos. :p This is massive progress on his part.

You mean how do you select the shutter speed before taking the photo, or do you mean you want to check what shutter speed was used when the photo was taken?

I don't know about your specific camera, but surely it'll have manual settings, and probably the shutter speed. If you don't know what numbers represent the shutter speed, it'll be the numbers that say 1/60, or 1/320, 1/1250 or something of the sort.
