Wow, looks like he's all set for a tasty snack! Makes you wonder how he'll get that big fish down his narrow gullet, doesn't it? Did you watch him flip the fish before consuming it?

That will have to be tomorrow's picture. :p

Yeah, I have the whole sequence - it was actually pretty easy for him - turn, head up, down she goes.

Thanks for looking. :)

A few years ago we had a GBH that hung around our lake, and one day when I was sitting on my deck he landed on the nearby pier with a fish in his beak. It was fascinating watching him flip the thing around, plopping it down on the pier, picking it up again, flipping it a couple more times... finally he had it ready and positioned to his satisfaction. When he first started, I ran in the house and grabbed my Coolpix, so I was able to capture some of the events. Wish I could find those images now....

Really cool, Ian.

The pole (or whatever it is) just gives it that "I'm hiding" look.

Bravo.

Call me stupid, but how do you post a full size picture without getting the 'Attached thumbnails' thing on the bottom?

Its pretty simple, just upload a picture, then click on the paperclip icon when you're posting, like this:

attach.JPG

It'll attach the image in

Wow! I like how you can see the hairs on her legs!
One thing though - do you think you've got some dirt on your sensor? There are 4 spots that look like it in the image, or maybe it's just stuff flying around in the garden. Amazing picture - must be a great lens. You've got me really wanting a macro lens now! ;)

Glad you like it! IMO the 85PC is the absolute ultimate macro lens. The stuff you see is a combination of the bit of dust on the sensor (its going in for a cleaning and adjustment etc. in june) and some dust on the front element of the 85PC. With the PK13, to get focus out far enough there I had to leave it at infinity, and at my aperture I suppose it made the dust visible. Scary but true.

<Waves back to Harrison> Hi and welcome to the other place on the 'net where I spend a lot of my time!

Oops, almost forgot to say how much I like that photo of the dragonfly! Up close and personal, that one....

Glad to be here!

After spending 2 hours in the hot miami sun chasing dragonflies and butterflies with my 300 on a tripod (and a few handheld) and the 85PC crawling on my stomach through the grass, it was well worth it to get that shot!
Its my favorite from that day though i've got a few other good ones.

This was in Fairbanks, Alaska at Moose Mountain, a ski/snowboard resort. This was taken during the winter of 2003/2004, I'm not sure of the exact date:rolleyes:, after an awesome day of snowboarding. I would go almost every day. Sorry, this is a liitle fuzzy once more, I think because we had a very early model 2.0 MP Olympus D-380... or should that matter? Cheers!:p

It does not matter when the picture was taken, as long as you only post ONE SINGLE IMAGE per day. Make sure to post a date, location and description.

Please use this format when posting:

Blue Angels Flight Demonstration, U.S. Naval Academy/Severn River, Annapolis, MD 5/24/06

And if you like, post your EXIF data, so others may learn if they want to - but please use the following format (optional). If you do not know what you have or only have a couple of bits, post those, but in the order listed below, leaving out the titles of what you do not have, please.

Camera: Canon EOS 20D
ISO: 400
Focal Length: 220mm
Shutter/Aperture: 1/1000 @ f11
Lens: EF 100-400L f4.5-5.6 IS USM
