marching mushrooms

I encountered these huge hordes of marching mushrooms at the local cemetery -- they stretched as far as the eye could see.

Fortunately, they weren't moving too fast and i was able to get a photo of them.

Non-CPU lens, so data not recorded. Probably f/5.6 @ 1/125 sec

The Lester A. Dine lens is a line of Nikon/Kiron lenses made especially for the medical field: dentists and physicians valued them for their sharpness in doing clinical images. Mine is circa 1980's or early 1990's.

Another great shot there Connie!

I see you have been out buying again. :D

Beautiful shot! I'm not much of a mushroom fan (as a food item), but man, they look great in the wild. I love how these mushrooms look like they're in motion, like jellyfish.

Weddings in B&W are so special looking. Wish I could find the one from a wedding that I did for a friend. Very similar.

Thanks, Chip! I had seen samples of others' work with this lens and when someone on Nikon Cafe offered one for sale, I promptly snapped it up. It's definitely a razor-sharp and unique lens. I seem to have this thing for macro lenses..... :D

On my long Sunday run today, I came across a ridge with a patch of Parasol mushrooms, a fine edible they say. Not common in the forests back in B.C., Canada where I used to hunt wild mushrooms, I've never picked this kind before. I'll have to do more research before daring to try 'em. :p They are quite a stately 'shroom.

The colors are beautiful and I like how the large aperture melts them. My gut feel would make me crop the image just a little on the right and bottom.

Thanks, I'm not much for cropping or PP other than scaling down the size. I love taking pictures wide open for that very reason you mentioned.

You have posted some great pictures with your 50 1.8, can't imagine what you would do with a 50 1.2. The Glass of Light is a cool picture.

how tall is that thing? looks like a towering office building :) I'm trying to judge from the twigs and grass leaves, but I'm not sure.
