This is what I'm faced with every time I walk into a Belgian supermarket, and this is a small one:

Sigh.

I remember how my students marvelled (and their opinion of me soared) when I brought them into such a store in Brussels (at the time, we were on an EU funded tour of the EU institutions); they told me that they thought that they had died and gone to Heaven.

The major grocery store I go to a short walk away here in Finland has that multiplied by a least 8. The selection is enormous and daunting at times.
No, not daunting.

Rather, an invitation to embark upon an adventure and take the opportunity to explore (many of the) available beers as possible.

Oh, I have certainly done that but once in a while if I just want to grab a beer quickly if I am not careful I find that 15 minutes later I am still browsing. Not really complaining though as this certainly beats the small selection in brown stubbie bottles available in Canada 30 to 40 years ago.

I remember my dad buying those, especially when we had guests in summer for bbq. Here is a great page:

Or, many other places, too.

This one is from a micro brewery in my home town of Genk, 10 mins walk from where I live. 2 or 3 guys running the brewery, and bottling by hand. Was chatting to them the other day, they say they never make the same batch twice, about 500litres a time. I guess they have to keep coming up with original names.

As mentioned earlier, I don't think there are any official records of exactly what types of beer are on offer in Belgium at any given time. This might be because it would be kinda hard to keep them up to date, for reasons just mentioned.

Also, it is generally considered sacrilege to drink beer out of the wrong glass. This is all well and good, if you can keep 12 000 glasses in your kitchen. The other photo is my current collection. This is a Brugge Tripel glass, I just turned it around for the photo. It was also a lot clearer when I started pouring, but I deliberately poured the whole bottle, to get the malt/hops in the bottom of the bottle.

Ah.

I have a cupboard that looks a little like that: Lots of (different) Belgian beer glasses, though not quite as many as you seem to have.

Plus some elegant crystal glassware for wine.

Kinda envious and that beer looks delicious!

That will take your mind off your other issue ;)

What issue? Working with a fantastic computer, then rounding off the day with great beer?

I'll never forget when I saw Hayseed Dixie live in Belgium. They said: you guys in Belgium have some great beer! They then proceeded to play the best rendition of Duelling Banjos I've ever heard. They were drinking Duvel, on stage....

Had a quick search, this is Hayseed Dixie on Belgian beer, at the show were I saw them:

Agree completely.

Mind you, many musical traditions lend themselves to the contemplation of life (and enjoyment of a beer) while sipping a beer.

Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. It’s also cheaper than therapy.

Along with Apple Music, an absolute winning combination.
