In a coffee shop.
Had this on Monday night; didnt realize that its 16% ABV. Very, very good - a bit more carbonation than I expected.

Wow. 16% ABV........

How did it taste?

In my experience, breweries - even the very good ones - such as Buxton's or Founder's - occasionally have problems with the production of beers at such a high ABV.

Anything over 11.5% ABV can present problems, because the challenge is to have the stout (porter) beautifully balanced - yet hefty and yes, powerful - but not so powerful that the alcohol overpowers everything else.

However, if they can master that balancing trick, - making that blend of flavour, taste, heat and power seamless - then the beer can be superlative.

It was VERY smooth; the alcohol wasnt overpowering, and I got a definite vanilla flavoring from it. I liked it enough to go and get two more bottles

Beachwood 11 by Beachwood BBQ in Long Beach, CA. This was supposed to be a canned release for their 11th anniversary of their Seal Beach location, but they forgot to order cans. An epic double/imperial IPA and I was happy to bring a couple of crowlers home.
