Well I got a 92 Range Rover with 13K on it. And I just found a BMW 750iL with 37K

What year 750? Didn't some of them have major problems with the engine blocks?

Love the early 2000 7 series, one of the greatest looking cars in my opinion.

That has got to be close to or faster than the M5!? Due to the weight advantage...

I own an E60 M5. Trust me, it is far from being close, let alone faster. :)

Will post some pics soon. Have one on my iPhone for now.

335 and 135 just sound so much cooler than 330 and 130. ;)

Seems like BMW used to be much better about representing the true displacement of the car/engine with its model name in the past. now they just go with whatever sounds cool :D.

Used to be? It was a very long time ago. It does get confusing, especially when you consider BMW's diesel engines - the x20, x23 and x25 diesel engines are actually all 2 litre diesel engines just tuned differently (BMW only make two diesel engines - a 2 litre and a 3 litre one). The x30 and x35 petrol engines, which are both 3 litre engines, are at least separated by turbo charging. And then there's the confusing E46 318, later incarnations of which were 2 litres rather than 1.8. Also, wasn't the E46 328 replaced by the 325 although both were 2.8 litre engines, but BMW wanted more obvious separation from the 328 when they brought out the E46 330?

As far as E46 M3 and E92 335i comparisons are concerned, I have driven both (I own an M3 and girlfriend owns a 335i). The M3 feels quicker and has more brutal acceleration. The 335i takes a little longer to accelerate but when it gets into its power band and the big turbo takes over from its little brother, it just keeps on accelerating.

Not much old metal in here, Its al too shiny for me.
Here is Acea, my old girl. A 1972 Series 3 Land Rover. She is my first car, and untill a couple of years ago was my daily drive. She currently has her feet up after being treated to a new set of drums and braded brake hoses. I'm still working on the stearing (its abit poor at the moment) and hopefully I will actually make a start on the engine rebuild which she is desperate for as the "Daily Drive" bit has sort of finished her off..

Oh, and to keep up appearences with all the power hungy number folk on here.. 68bhp, 2 1/4ltr Petrol, Overdive, 0-60 Within a DAY!! Oh, and she has done 78**mph! Top that. Pwwwooarrh! :p

**note 78mph recorded down hill with a prevailing wind

Beautiful. Hope she "recovers" soon. ;)

There should be practically no turbo lag. With 300 lb-ft of torque stock, they "feel" faster than the E46 M3. If your GF's 335i takes long to accelerate then she probably has the screwed up software mapping that many owners have been complaining about. That has since been fixed. I love the E46 M3. I went with the 135i in the end because I love the size, it's modding potential, and because I didn't like the idea of buying a used BMW.

That and the turbo's are the same size(small) and they feed 3 cylinders each.

No turbo lag - very impressive how the two turbos work seamlessly in the 335i. I am sure her 335i is fine - I guess what I was saying is that the 335i being a bigger, heavier car than the E46 M3 just somehow to me doesn't feel as quick. As (you?) mentioned earlier, in real world straight line speed terms they are probably about the same but when the difference is in tenths of a second (if that), it's as much about the mind's perception than anything else (and I'm not about to admit that my girlfriend drives a quicker car than me ;)).

EDIT - here's a video between E46 M3 (convertible) and the 335i which shows E46 M3's acceleration:

Try this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZGwpifULe4 It's a bit less biased as all 3 cars are tested at the same time by the same driver. The E46 M3 did come out first on the track. :)

It's closer than you think. Modded 135i's are around the 4.5-4.7s 0-60 which is right around the M5 range.

What about 60+? :)

I've done 190mph with the M5, doubt any x35i would catch up!

Yes, I am a smart A**!

+1! :D

Owned a GM before... never will agian. End of story :p

How long ago?

I have had 4 GM vehicles. All of them have been reliable.

1996 Chevy Suburban- 80,000 no problems traded in for the 2002 due to the post-9/11 deals.

2002 Chevy Suburban- 76,000 miles and no problems.

2006 Chevy Equinox- 58,000 miles and besides a bad rear driveshaft, no problems.

2007 Saturn Aura XR- 12,000 miles and besides TSB's no problems.

Probably not. :) I'm in no way saying my car competes with an M5 in any form. I'm not sure what the top speed on my car is. It's usually electronically limited to around 155-160, but my Dinan upgrade removes the limiter.
